Chattanooga Mocs
The Chattanooga Mocs finished seventh in the Southern Conference during the regular season, but they are one game away from repeating as SoCon Tournament champions. They beat VMI, Samford, and Wofford over the last three days to reach the conference championship game. Now they will look for a win over Furman in the championship game for the second year in a row.
For the Mocs, the question for this game will be whether or not they can slow down the lethal offense of Furman. The Paladins are averaging 81.9 points per game, and rank 34th in the country in offensive efficiency at Kenpom. Chattanooga is nowhere near as good as they were last year, and they will need to be great on defense if they want to win here.
Furman Paladins
Furman suffered one of the great heartbreaks of last year’s conference championship week, losing at the buzzer to Chattanooga in the SoCon title game. Here, they have a chance for revenge, as the top seed in the tournament looks to turn the tables at Harrah’s Cherokee Center.
Fortunately for Furman, they still have some of the weapons they did when they reached the SoCon Tournament final last year. Jalen Slawson and Mike Bothwell are in their fifth seasons with the Paladins, and you can expect them to lay it all on the line here, as they look to reach the NCAA Tournament by clinching the SoCon’s automatic bid.
