- Perry has only had one professional boxing match in his career and lost it back in 2015.
- Perry is proficient in bare-knuckle boxing, but his offense will be subdued with gloves on against Paul here.
We had originally anticipated a Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight on July 20, 2024, but that did not come to pass due to some health issues for Tyson. Instead, Paul will face off with Mike Perry on Saturday night, in a fight where Paul is a heavy favorite to pick up a win. Here, we will break down Jake Paul vs Mike Perry and provide our boxing betting picks for a bout in which Paul will look to stay at just one loss in his boxing career.
This fight will be held at Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
Jake Paul
It is a big downgrade going from a Mike Tyson fight at AT&T Stadium to a fight against Mike Perry in Tampa. But that is something Jake Paul will have to overcome on Saturday, in what is perhaps the biggest case of adversity he has had to face in what has been a pretty easy path into boxing so far. While Paul is the heavy favorite to win this bout, he will have to maintain his concentration and not think about what could have been in the Paul vs Tyson fight that has been moved to later in the year.
As far as the in-ring component of this bout is concerned, Paul should have the upper hand here against a fighter without much traditional boxing experience. Paul’s power punches have translated well to gloved boxing, while Mike Perry’s have yet to do so. That could end up being the difference maker in this fight, in which Paul will look to improve to 10-1 since getting involved in the sport at a competitive level.
Mike Perry
Mike Perry has had a very interesting career as a fighter, spending time in UFC and having success in bare-knuckle boxing. But he has yet to have success as a traditional boxer, losing his lone professional fight while serving as an alternate for a couple of previous Paul family circuses, or fights depending on how you view them. Still, Perry has an opportunity to knock out Jake Paul here, an opportunity many would certainly love to have in his place.
As for whether or not Perry can get the job done, it is hard to see the BKFC King of Violence living up to that billing here. The application of boxing gloves will limit the power of Perry, something that has not seemed to slow Paul down at all just yet. And with the way that Paul opponents have found the canvas with consistency so far in Paul’s boxing career, it is hard to see Perry’s night ending in a different way in Tampa Bay.
