Vegas Golden Knights vs Dallas Stars Prediction: Can Stars Sweep Vegas This Season?
The Vegas Golden Knights travel to Dallas on Sunday night for a Western Conference clash with the Stars, and the timing could not be more important for both teams. Dallas has been one of the most consistent teams in the league, especially on home ice, while Vegas enters this game trying to halt a concerning slide. With recent head-to-head results favoring the Stars and both teams dealing with key absences, this Golden Knights vs Stars matchup will be one of the more interesting on the NHL schedule for the day.
Recent form
Dallas enters this game in strong form, continuing a stretch that has kept them near the top of the Central Division standings. They recently defeated Vegas 2-1 in their last meeting and have been stacking wins at home with a 22-8-4 record. The Stars have also been producing consistently, averaging 3.38 goals per game while allowing just 2.68.
Vegas, on the other hand, is trending in the opposite direction. The Golden Knights have dropped three straight games, including a 4-1 loss to Nashville and a shutout defeat earlier in the week. Over their last three games, they have struggled to generate sustained offense, scoring one total goal during that stretch.
Goaltending
Dallas holds a clear edge in net with Jake Oettinger anchoring one of the league’s most reliable defensive units. He recently turned aside 33 shots in a win over Colorado and has consistently delivered in tight games. His ability to control rebounds and limit second chances has been a major factor in Dallas’ success.
Vegas has relied on a rotation that has produced mixed results. While Adin Hill has had solid stretches, the team’s defensive lapses have led to a goals-against average above 3.00. During this recent losing streak, goaltending has not been poor, but it has not been strong enough to compensate for the lack of scoring.
Key skaters
For Vegas, Jack Eichel remains the engine of the offense with 74 points, including 24 goals and 50 assists. Pavel Dorofeyev has emerged as a top scoring option with 34 goals, giving the Golden Knights a reliable finisher.
Dallas counters with Jason Robertson, who leads the team with 82 points and 38 goals, continuing to drive one of the most efficient top lines in the league. Even with injuries to key forwards, the Stars have found production throughout the lineup, including strong contributions from younger players and depth pieces.
Dallas enters this game with clear advantages in form, defensive structure, and goaltending. Their ability to control games at home has been a defining trait, and they already showed they can limit Vegas’ offense in a recent 2-1 win. With Oettinger playing at a high level and the Stars continuing to generate balanced scoring, they are well-positioned to dictate play. I'm going to lay the puckline with the Stars in this matchup, as they should take advantage of the lack of offensive production from Vegas of late.
