The Utah Mammoth will make the trip to take on the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night at KeyBank Center. Utah enters this game as a slight favorite as they look to shake off their recent losing streak, while the Sabres are searching for a second win in a row. Before the puck drops in Buffalo, continue reading to get my Mammoth vs Sabres prediction for Tuesday's game.
Utah enters this game with an 8‑4‑0 record. They are scoring 3.50 goals per game and allowing 2.83 per game this season. But they have lost two games in a row to the Edmonton Oilers and Tampa Bay Lightning. The Mammoth will try to rebound and avoid a third straight loss here.
Buffalo sits at 5‑4‑3 this season, averaging 3.00 goals per game and 3.17 goals against. They got a shootout win over the Washington Capitals in their last game and will try to build on that result on home ice here.
Utah's goalie tandem has posted a 2.83 GAA this season. Veteran netminder Karel Vejmelka alone has turned in a solid 2.79 GAA and has been credited with six wins so far. He is expected to get the start again tonight for Utah.
Buffalo’s goaltending has been less consistent, with the team allowing 3.17 goals against per game. Alex Lyon has been the best option for them with a 2.90 GAA, but everything in the defensive zone needs to be better for the Sabres.
Utah: Center Logan Cooley has eight goals and 12 points so far this season. Forward Nick Schmaltz leads the Mammoth in assists with 10 and points with 17. Both have been big reasons for Utah's strong start to this campaign.
Buffalo: Alex Tuch is leading the Sabres in both points and goals to start this season. He has five goals and seven assists so far this year. Rasmus Dahlin has a team-high eight assists for Buffalo.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Logan Cooley (Utah) | Over 1.5 points |
Nick Schmaltz (Utah) | Over 0.5 assists |
Alex Tuch (Buffalo) | Over 0.5 goals |
Score Projection: Utah 2 – Buffalo 3
Win Probability: Utah Mammoth 48%, Buffalo Sabres 52%
I'm expecting a close game in Buffalo tonight. Ultimately, the Sabres should get the win at home and prolong the struggles of the Mammoth. Utah has given up 10 goals over its last two games and Buffalo should turn those defensive woes into enough scoring to get the win here.
