The Toronto Maple Leafs and Vegas Golden Knights will meet in the final game on the Thursday night NHL schedule. Vegas enters this contest as the home favorite after a strong string of victories, while Toronto is trying to bounce back after a blowout loss and regain momentum during a long road trip. Here, I look at everything you need to know to make an informed decision in the betting markets for this game, and I bring you my Maple Leafs vs Golden Knights prediction.
Pick: | Over 6.5 ATS PRO |
Confidence: | 3/5 |
Vegas brings strong recent results into this game, having won its last five outings, including a big offensive show where Tomas Hertl posted a career-high five points in a 7-2 victory over the Sharks. The Knights had lost five straight games prior to their current win streak, and Vegas will try to avoid the loss column again tonight. Toronto was riding a 10-game point streak before a 6-1 defeat to the Utah Mammoth ended that run in their last game. Here, the Leafs will try to take advantage of the fact that the Knights are playing for the second night in a row.
Vegas' goalies have maintained a solid edge statistically, but they will have to figure things out after playing last night in order to remain the more effective goaltending group. Toronto’s Joseph Woll has posted respectable numbers but has shown vulnerability in recent games for the Leafs. This game could depend entirely on which goalie steps up the most effectively.
Toronto’s offensive output still runs through Auston Matthews, who leads the Leafs in goals with 22 on the season. William Nylander also contributes significant point production, especially after returning from injury. On the Vegas side, Mark Stone and Tomas Hertl have been primary catalysts, with Eichel setting up his teammates on a consistent basis. Mitch Marner will also be a player to watch here, as the Golden Knights' assists leader this season faces off against his former team.
Score Projection: Maple Leafs 3 – Golden Knights 4 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Maple Leafs 42%, Golden Knights 58% ATS PRO
We should see a high-scoring game between the Leafs and Knights in this contest from Vegas. Both teams are loaded with offensive firepower, and the Knights could suffer defensively thanks to playing just one night ago. Look for this game to see at least seven combined goals in what I'm expecting to be a thriller.
