The Tampa Bay Lightning ride a five-game win streak into an Atlantic Division showdown on Friday against the Detroit Red Wings. Tampa Bay is at the top of the Atlantic Division standings entering this game. They will look for a sixth straight win against a Detroit team that is battling for a spot in the top four in the Atlantic. Before the puck drops in Detroit, you can find my Lightning vs Red Wings prediction below.

Tampa Bay throttled the Calgary Flames 5-1 in their last game, sparked by a four-goal first period. They previously shut out the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 behind strong goaltending. Over their last 15 games, they are 12-3-0, jettisoning them to the top of the Atlantic. Detroit struggled in their last outing, falling 4-3 at home against the New Jersey Devils despite outshooting them. The Wings have given up 10 goals over their last two games and will try to stop the bleeding in this contest.
The edge in net goes to Tampa Bay’s netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy in this game. He has helped the Lightning give up just one goal over their last two games and Vasilevskiy's GAA is down to 2.28 for the season. Detroit will likely go with Cam Talbot in net, whose GAA stands at 2.97 heading into Friday afternoon's game.
Winger Brandon Hagel has been a revelation lately for Tampa. He has some recent multi-point outings and is helping the Lightning to operate at a high level on the attack. Veteran Nikita Kucherov is back from injury and leads the Lightning in assists with 16. Detroit will rely on forwards like Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat, both of whom capable of changing games. But they’ll need support from other players and steady goaltending to match Tampa Bay’s level here.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Nikita Kucherov (TBL) | Over 0.5 goals |
Brandon Hagel (TBL) | Over 0.5 points |
Dylan Larkin (DET) | Over 1.5 shots on goal |
Score Projection: Tampa Bay 4 – Detroit 2
Win Probability: Tampa Bay 56%, Detroit 44%
Tampa Bay is playing at a high level of late and they should continue to play well in Detroit on Friday aftenroon. My best bet for this contest is for the Lightning to win this contest and to win their sixth consecutive game while the Red Wings take their third consecutive defeat.
