The St. Louis Blues will visit the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night in Newark. This game pits one of the NHL’s best home teams against a Blues squad fighting to rediscover its edge. New Jersey comes in confident after a 4–3 win over Detroit, while St. Louis seeks to end a road trip on a high note and avoid a second straight loss. Here, I break down this matchup on the ice and give you my Blues vs Devils prediction.

New Jersey has momentum from a gritty 4–3 victory over Detroit on Monday night. The win improved their home record to 8–0–1, underlining just how much of a fortress Prudential Center has become this season. The Devils have been especially effective when scoring three or more goals, recording a 12–3–0 record in those games.
St. Louis wrapped up a five‑game road trip and enters off a 3–2 loss to the New York Rangers, their fifth loss in six outings. The Blues’ ability to generate offense has been spotty, and that could cause them some major problems against a team playing as well as New Jersey.
The Devils are likely to go with Jacob Markstrom. He stopped 32 Detroit shots in his most recent start, including a key late save to preserve the win. For St. Louis, goaltending remains a concern. Their season goals-against average sits at 3.61 per game. That ranks 29th in the league Jordan Binnington needs to step up if the Blues are going to pull off the upset here.
New Jersey’s Nico Hischier has emerged as a key contributor, recording 5 points (3 goals, 2 assists) over his last two games and totaling 18 points on the season. He has been a huge help with Jack Hughes on IR. Veteran forward Brayden Schenn leads by example for the Blues and comes in riding a two‑game goal streak. Defenseman Justin Faulk has also contributed offensively with three points in his last three games.
Player | Projected Props |
|---|---|
Nico Hischier (NJD) | Over 0.5 points |
Timo Meier (NJD) | Over 1.5 shots on goal |
Brayden Schenn (STL) | Anytime goal scorer |
Score Projection: Devils 4 – Blues 2
Win Probability: Devils 62%, Blues 38%
The Devils should continue rolling on their home rink in this contest. I'll take the Devils to win on the moneyline, though they could certainly win by multiple goals to cover the puckline.
