Lightning vs Avalanche Player Props: Kucherov Chases History

Updated October 23, 2026

Nikita Kucherov has already accomplished just about everything imaginable with the Tampa Bay Lightning. On Friday, October 23, he has an opportunity to add another franchise record to his remarkable career.
The Russian winger recorded three points against Vegas on Tuesday, bringing his career total to 1,137 and tying Steven Stamkos for the most in Lightning history. One more point against the Colorado Avalanche would put Kucherov alone at the top.
And judging by his recent performances, there's a reasonable chance it happens tonight.
However, Colorado isn't exactly short on offensive talent either. Nathan MacKinnon has 16 points in ten games, while Artturi Lehkonen is enjoying an extraordinary start with eight goals.
For player props, I'm particularly interested in whether Kucherov can make history at Ball Arena.

The Lightning visit the Avalanche at Ball Arena on Friday, October 23, with puck drop scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET.
Tampa Bay enters with a 7-2-0 record, having won three consecutive games and seven of its last eight. Colorado, meanwhile, has been less convincing at 5-4-1, dropping consecutive road games against Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Despite Tampa Bay's stronger start, Colorado is favored in the broader prediction market, reflecting the challenge of playing the Avalanche in Denver.
Both Kalshi and Polymarket offer markets for Friday's game. However, I haven't verified an active player-points contract for Kucherov, so the recommendation below comes with a conditional entry threshold rather than a quoted live price.
Kucherov has four goals and nine assists through nine games, giving him 13 points and another impressive start to the season.
He's registered at least one point in seven of those nine appearances, including five multi-point performances.
His latest effort was particularly impressive. Against a Vegas team that entered Tuesday with an 8-2-0 record, Kucherov scored once and assisted twice as Tampa Bay cruised to a 6-2 victory.
Perhaps even more encouraging is his previous success against Colorado. Kucherov has recorded 25 points in 23 career appearances against the Avalanche, including three points across two meetings last season.
Those historical numbers aren't enough to justify a position by themselves, but they reinforce the argument that Kucherov can produce against strong opposition.
The biggest question surrounds Anthony Cirelli's availability.
Cirelli scored twice against Vegas but didn't return for the third period because of an undisclosed issue. His status remains uncertain heading into Friday.
Kucherov has recently played alongside Cirelli and Brandon Hagel, and losing his center would introduce some uncertainty about Tampa Bay's offensive combinations.
Still, Kucherov's production isn't entirely dependent on one linemate. He remains the Lightning's primary offensive creator and an integral part of their power play.
MacKinnon has six goals and ten assists through ten games, averaging 1.6 points per appearance.
The numbers are excellent, although his recent performances haven't quite matched that production.
Colorado's leading center was held without a point in consecutive defeats against Philadelphia and New Jersey, despite registering five shots against the Devils.
Before those games, he recorded four points against Pittsburgh on October 16.
There's no reason to suggest MacKinnon is suddenly struggling offensively. He's averaging 4.4 shots per game, remains Colorado's most important forward and continues to receive significant power-play minutes.
However, Tampa Bay presents a difficult matchup.
The Lightning have conceded just 23 goals through nine games, while Andrei Vasilevskiy is coming off a 32-save performance against Vegas.
MacKinnon is certainly capable of producing multiple points, but I'd prefer a conservative entry threshold before supporting that outcome.
Lehkonen might be the most interesting goalscorer in this matchup.
The Finnish winger has scored eight goals through ten games, including four in his last three appearances.
He scored twice against Pittsburgh and followed that with another two-goal performance against New Jersey on Tuesday.
The problem? His finishing rate looks almost impossible to sustain.
Lehkonen has scored eight goals on just 16 shots, converting an extraordinary 50% of his opportunities.
That doesn't make him a poor goalscorer, and playing alongside MacKinnon certainly helps. However, it makes me reluctant to chase his anytime-goal market simply because he's been scoring so frequently.
He's an interesting alternative, but the entry price would need to account for likely regression.
Colorado's projected first line features Artturi Lehkonen, Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas, with Devon Toews and Cale Makar expected to form the leading defensive pairing.
Tampa Bay's most recent top line featured Brandon Hagel, Anthony Cirelli and Nikita Kucherov. Jake Guentzel and Brayden Point remain important offensive contributors on the second line.
Cirelli's uncertain status is the major concern for the Lightning, while Yanni Gourde remains unavailable with a hip injury.
Colorado has been without Nicolas Roy and Zachary L'Heureux, although Logan O'Connor could return to the lineup.
Andrei Vasilevskiy is projected to start for Tampa Bay, opposite Mackenzie Blackwood for Colorado. Neither assignment should be considered confirmed until official lineup announcements.
