Panthers vs Senators Player Props: Tkachuk's Ottawa Homecoming

The Florida Panthers visit the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday, October 21, and something tells me Brady Tkachuk won't receive the warmest welcome.
The former Senators captain returns to Ottawa for the first time since his June trade to Florida. Whether the crowd cheers, boos or delivers a combination of both remains to be seen, but there's little doubt that Tkachuk will be at the center of attention.
He's also coming off a rather ridiculous stretch of hockey. Two consecutive hat tricks against Columbus and Vancouver, followed by seven shots and two assists against Seattle. Not bad for someone who failed to score in his first six games with Florida.
For player props, I'm particularly interested in his shots on goal.
Tkachuk has registered 32 shots through nine games this season, averaging approximately 3.6 per appearance. He's reached at least four shots five times, including each of his last three outings.
The recent numbers are encouraging, but his role is equally important.
Tkachuk is projected to play alongside his brother Matthew and Sam Bennett on Florida's top line. It's a combination that has already produced some spectacular results, particularly during the Panthers' recent three-game winning streak.
Ottawa presents a more difficult challenge than those recent scorelines might suggest, however.
The Senators have allowed approximately 26 shots per game this season, which doesn't exactly scream favorable matchup. They're also 6-3-0 and have Linus Ullmark providing stability in goal.
Nevertheless, I expect Tkachuk to be particularly aggressive on Wednesday. He's never been a player who shies away from shooting, and returning to the building where he spent eight seasons should provide plenty of motivation.
Of course, there's a danger in reading too much into the emotional side of this matchup. Players don't automatically produce more shots because they're facing their former teams.
But when the underlying shooting numbers are already there, it's another factor worth considering.
My preferred position is Brady Tkachuk to record at least four shots on goal, assuming a suitable prediction-market contract becomes available.
I'd estimate his probability of reaching that mark at approximately 52–55%, making an entry price of 48¢ or lower worth considering.
There are some reasons for caution. Ottawa has been relatively effective at limiting shots, and Tkachuk has finished with fewer than three in three of his nine appearances this season.
His recent scoring explosion could also influence market pricing. Six goals in two games will certainly attract attention, but I'm more interested in his shooting opportunities than whether he scores another goal.
That's why four shots feels like a more sensible target than an anytime-goal prediction.
