- Matchup: Pittsburgh Penguins vs New York Islanders
- Date & Time: Tuesday, February 3, 7:30 p.m. ET.

Key Storylines
Recent form
- Pittsburgh had won 6 straight games before losing to the Ottawa Senators, outscoring opponents 31-15 during the winning streak.
- New York is 3-2 across its last 5, but the Islanders have dropped two games in a row going into thsi contest on their home rink.
Goaltending
- Pittsburgh: Stuart Skinner has stabilized the crease and is 8-2 across his last 10 starts, giving the visitors a dependable baseline behind an offense that’s humming.
- New York: Ilya Sorokin’s form has been excellent, including multiple recent shutouts and a franchise-record milestone for clean sheets in early January. If he starts, New York could very well slow down the red-hot Penguins.
Key skaters
- Penguins: Sidney Crosby leads Pittsburgh with 27 goals, 31 assists, and 58 points. Line mates have pushed high-danger shot rates, and depth pieces like Anthony Mantha and Noel Acciari fueled Saturday’s 6-goal outburst.
- Islanders: Bo Horvat headlines the Isles with 21 goals, while Mathew Barzal paces the club in points, creating offensive zone entries and getting plenty of power-play touches.
- Special teams snapshot: Pittsburgh’s power play has been much more effective than that of the Islanders this season, which could make all the difference in this matchup.
Betting Trends & H2H
- Season Series: Penguins lead the season series 1-0 after a 4-3 win in October.
- The Penguins are 15-7-4 on the road going into this contest.
- The Islanders go into Tuesday night with a home record of 15-10-2.
Penguins vs Islanders Model Projection
Score Projection: Pittsburgh Penguins 3 – New York Islanders 2
Win Probability: Pittsburgh Penguins 51%, New York Islanders 49%
Final Thoughts
Pittsburgh saw its winning streak come to an end last time out, but they should bounce back in this game against the struggling Islanders. New York has scored a total of four goals over its last two games and that should be problematic against a Penguins team that is so explosive with Crosby to lead them. I'll go with the Pens to win this matchup and for the Islanders to drop their third game in a row.
