The New York Rangers head into their Wednesday night clash with the Chicago Blackhawks playing better hockey on the road than they have played at home. Meanwhile, Chicago is reeling after two lopsided losses. One of these teams will end a two-game losing streak at United Center when the final buzzer sounds in this game. Which team will that be? Continue reading to get my Rangers vs Blackhawks prediction below.
The Rangers (15-12-4) come in with solid momentum on the road (12-4-1), hoping to extend a three-game road winning streak. Over their last 10 games, they’ve gone 5-3-2, though they lost two straight home games in overtime heading into this matchup. New York will hope that being back on the road does them some good here.
Chicago (12-11-6) is coming off back-to-back blowout losses. They were beaten 6-0 by the LA Kings and 7-1 by the Anaheim Ducks. They will hope that being at home will help them to get back on track in this contest.
Igor Shesterkin is expected to start this game in goal for the Rangers. Shesterkin enters this game with a 2.46 GAA and he is one of the more dependable goalies in the NHL. He will be opposed by Chicago's Arvid Soderblom. Soderblom has struggled mightily so far this year, posting 3.92 GAA and a .877 save percentage. The Rangers should have the advantage between the pipes in this one.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Artemi Panarin (NYR) | Anytime Goal Scorer |
Artemi Panarin (NYR) | Over 0.5 Assists |
Connor Bedard (CHI) | Anytime Goal Scorer |
Score Projection: New York Rangers 4 – Chicago Blackhawks 1
Win Probability: Rangers 56%, Blackhawks 44%
At this point in the season, it's clear that the Rangers are a better road team than they are a home team. With the Blackhawks struggling as much as they have been defensively, I expect that trend to continue and for the Rangers to get a win on the road once again on Wednesday night in the Windy City.
