Updated December 9, 2025
The New Jersey Devils travel to Ottawa to face the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night and both teams are desperate to change their current trajectory. New Jersey arrives on a concerning five‑game losing streak, while Ottawa has dropped four of its last five. Something has to give when these struggling teams meet in Ottawa. Before the puck is dropped, you can keep reading to find my Devils vs Senators prediction right here.
Pick: Senators Moneyline
Confidence: 3/5
The Devils are limping into Ottawa with five straight losses. Their offense has dried up, with just one goal in their last three games, including two consecutive shutouts at home. Their −5 goal differential this season is a sign of struggles generating consistent scoring. The Senators have lost four of their last five, including a 2‑1 defeat to the Blues despite 42 shots in that contest. The penalty kill has been a huge weakness for the Senators, as they have killed penalties with a success rate under 70% for the season.
Goaltending could be a deciding factor in this game between struggling teams. Jake Allen is expected to start for the Devils. He enters the game with a respectable 2.52 GAA and will hope for some help from his attackers here. Ottawa is expected to roll with Linus Ullmark in net. Ullmark has 10 of Ottawa's 13 wins this season, but his 3.00 GAA leaves room for improvement.
For Ottawa, Tim Stützle (11 goals, 13 assists) and Jake Sanderson (17 assists) lead the offensive push. On New Jersey’s side, captain Nico Hischier (10 goals, 16 assists) remains the focal point, with winger Timo Meier recently ending the team's scoring drought. It will be interesting to see if anyone can step up and get the offense of New Jersey back on track here.
Player | Prop to Watch |
|---|---|
Tim Stützle (Senators) | 1+ Point |
Drake Batherson (Senators) | 1+ Point |
Timo Meier (Devils) | 1+ Point |
Score Projection: Ottawa Senators 4 – New Jersey Devils 3
Win Probability: Ottawa 53%, New Jersey 47%
It's hard to know what to expect from either of these teams right now with how volatile they have been of late. But I think that the Senators have the upper hand on their home rink in this contest. I'm going to take Ottawa to win this game against a Devils group that is sputtering offensively and has a losing record on the road for the year.
