The Minnesota Wild and Seattle Kraken will do battle on Monday night in the NHL. Both of these teams are struggling of late, but only one of them can get a win in the Pacific Northwest in this Western Conference contest. Which team will that be? I’ll attempt to answer that question right here, as I make my Wild vs Kraken prediction.

Key Storylines
Recent form
The Minnesota Wild has dropped three of their last four games coming into this contest. They most recently lost 4-2 against the Vancouver Canucks, which was their second loss in a row. The Wild have given up four goals in each of those last two losses and will need to be better on defense if they want to avoid a third loss in a row. Seattle has dropped five games in a row and aren’t faring any better going into this contest.
Goaltending
Filip Gustavsson will get the start for the Wild in goal. He has a slight edge over the expected starter for the Kraken, Joey Daccord. Gustavsson’s save percentage is .905 on the year, which compares favorably to Daccord’s .891 save rate. But both of these netminders have their flaws and will need to be at or near their best to help their team get a win here.
Key skaters
Kirill Kaprizov is the leader of the charge offensively for the Minnesota Wild. Kaprizov has 32 points this season, with 17 goals and 15 assists on the year. The question for the Wild is always whether or not they can give Kaprizov enough help to get a win. Seattle doesn’t have a player with 10 goals yet this season. Their top offensive weapon is Jordan Eberle, who has 8 goals and 8 assists going into Monday night’s matchup.
