Key Storylines
Recent form
The Red Wings have won two of their last three games coming into this contest. Their last game was a 4-3 road win over the Seattle Kraken, in which they overcame a poor defensive performance to get the job done. Detroit sits in fourth place in the Atlantic Division entering Monday’s action and they are a point back of first place.
Vancouver ended a losing streak in its last game, defeating the Minnesota Wild 4-2. Vancouver outscored the Wild 3-0 in the second period of that game, allowing them to create a lead that they did not give up. The question will be whether or not the Canucks can usstain the level they showed in that game here against the Red Wings.
Goaltending
Cam Talbot is likely to get the start in goal for the Wings. Talbot has seen his GAA move over the 3.00 mark on the season despite a strong start to the year. Detroit will hope that he can put things back together here. The Canucks will go with Kevin Lankinen, who has struggled in relief of the injured Thatcher Demko.
Key skaters
Dylan Larkin has been the straw that has stirred the drink offensively for the Detroit Red Wings. Larkin leads the Wings with 31 total points, scoring 15 goals and dishing out 16 assists on the year. He constantly has the puck at his stick and the Red Wings’ performance tends to go as far as Larkin takes them.
Vancouver is led on the attack by Elias Pettersson. Pettersson has 22 points for the year, scoring 8 goals and giving out 14 assists. Kiefer Sherwood leads the Canucks with 12 goals on the year in 62 shots and he has been highly efficient with his shot attempts.
