New Jersey returns from a five-game road trip where they went 2–3. They were shut out by the Panthers and were handed a lopsided 6–3 defeat by Philadelphia. The Devils have lost three games in a row and they will try to bounce back as they begin a stretch where six of their next seven games come at Prudential Center.
Detroit has won three of its last four games coming into this contest. In their most recent game before this one, they rallied for a 4–3 overtime win over Columbus after erasing a two-goal deficit in the third period. Their record (13–8–1) reflects a team that’s trending upward and they will try to get an important win in this contest.
Devils netminder Jake Allen has taken on a larger role than expected for New Jersey. Allen has posted solid numbers, and he has a very strong 2.46 GAA on the year. Detroit’s Cam Talbot has been serviceable this season. His 2.66 GAA (goals against average) and .899 save percentage give Detroit a baseline of reliability in net.
Jesper Bratt has been a driving force for the Devils offensively, contributing a team-high 16 assists and exhibiting chemistry with the team's top lines. Detroit captain Dylan Larkin leads them offensively with 12 goals and 24 points this season. Alex DeBrincat (10 goals, 14 assists) complements him well, and young forward Lucas Raymond has also provided a spark with a team-high 16 assists.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Dylan Larkin (DET) | Over 0.5 Points |
Alex DeBrincat (DET) | Over 0.5 Points |
Jesper Bratt (NJD) | Over 0.5 Assists |
Nico Hischier (NJD) | Over 0.5 Points |
Score Projection: Detroit 3 – New Jersey 4
Win Probability: New Jersey 60%, Detroit 40%
The Devils haven't lost a game in regulation at home this season. They are 7-0-1 at home for the year and should continue to play at a high level on their home ice here. I'll take the Devils to get the win in this game, as they should snap their three-game losing streak now that they are finally done with their extended road trip.
