The Chicago Blackhawks travel to Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg to face the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night. The Jets are slight favorites at home, and both clubs arrive with poor play recently, with both of them separated by just one point near the bottom of the Central Division. Here, I break down this division game and make my Blackhawks vs Jets prediction from a betting standpoint.
Pick: Winnipeg Jets Moneyline ATS PRO
Confidence: 3 out of 5
The Blackhawks have struggled in recent weeks, going 2-6-2 in their last 10 games, though they did earn a 4-0 win over Utah in their most recent outing. That victory snapped a skid of allowing at least three goals in multiple games, but Chicago’s overall play remains inconsistent. Meanwhile, the Jets are 3-3-4 in their last 10, including a recent 2-1 loss in overtime to the San Jose Sharks. Winnipeg has shown signs of life offensively but still has difficulty consistently closing out games, which is evident in their current record and recent two-game losing streak.
Winnipeg typically turns to veteran goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who has faced mixed results this season and most recently gave up two goals in the overtime loss to San Jose. His save percentage hovers around .899, slightly below ideal, though he will be forgiven as he is now an American hero. Chicago’s netminding includes several options, with Spencer Knight and other starters rotating in. Knight will likely get the start here, though, and he has enjoyed a better season than Hellebuyck for the most part.
Chicago’s Connor Bedard leads the Blackhawks in production with 25 goals and 55 points, making him a central factor in any offensive success. Travis Bertuzzi adds scoring punch, as do veterans like Teuvo Teravainen and Andrei Svetlakov. For the Jets, forward Mark Scheifele remains a key contributor when healthy, driving the puck into the offensive zone and creating chances, while Morgan Barron scored for Winnipeg in their most recent game.
Score Projection: Chicago Blackhawks 2 – Winnipeg Jets 3 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Chicago Blackhawks 35%, Winnipeg Jets 45%, Tie After Regulation 20% ATS PRO
This matchup sets up as a close contest with the Jets favored to win at home. Chicago’s offense has shown flashes but remains inconsistent, while Winnipeg’s recent results reflect some struggle to close games. Given the head-to-head history favoring the home team, backing Winnipeg on the moneyline offers value as far as I'm concerned.
