The Winnipeg Jets will host the Calgary Flames on Friday night at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg. The Jets enter this game on excellent form, while the Flames have struggled mightily out of the gate. Winnipeg is a favorite on home ice and they will try to pick up another win here. Before the action begins from Winnipeg, continue reading to get my Flames vs Jets prediction.
The Jets are coming into this with a solid record and strong defensive numbers. They opened the season with five wins in seven games. They have allowed just over two goals per game while scoring 3.29 goals on average. The Flames are in full fade mode. They have scored 1.5 goals per game while conceding 3.63 per game. Their shooting percentage is abysmal and they have scored two or fewer goals in all but one outing.
Connor Hellebuyck of the Jets is off to a strong start to this season. He is 4-2 with a 2.01 GAA and will try to stay hot in the crease here. Dustin Wolf of the Flames has a 1-5-1 record this season with a 3.61 GAA going into this contest.
The Jets' Mark Scheifele has been red-hot, scoring seven goals in his last five games. The club’s power-play conversion is strong at 26.1% and the penalty kill is also among the league's best at 96.4%. The Flames are led by Nazem Kadri and his four points, but they need more offensive production as a whole to be more competitive.
Player | Stat |
|---|---|
Mark Scheifele (Jets) | Over 1.5 points |
Kyle Connor (Jets) | Over 0.5 goals |
Matt Coronato (Flames) | Over 0.5 goals |
Score Projection: Winnipeg Jets 4 – Calgary Flames 1
Win Probability: Winnipeg Jets 65%, Calgary Flames 35%
The Jets should keep things rolling at home in this contest against the Flames. Calgary is 1-3 on the road for the season and they should continue to struggle in this game against a Jets team that is operating at a high level. I'll take the Jets on the moneyline, but I don't hate the idea of laying the puckline with them either.
