The Anaheim Ducks arrive in New York on Monday night to take on the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. The Ducks carry a slightly better overall record and have been one of the biggest surprises in hockey this season. They will try to keep picking up points on the road against a Rangers team desperate to move up in the Metropolitan Division. The Ducks head into this game with a 19-12-1 record, but have been inconsistent of late. They suffered a 4-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils in their last game, dropping their second game in a row. An offensive group featuring Troy Terry and Leo Carlsson has shown the ability to score in bunches, but Anaheim’s defense has been less reliable as of late, allowing nine goals in their last two outings.
The Rangers come in slightly below .500 at 16-13-4 but are coming off a 5-4 overtime win over Montreal that saw their offense firing on all cylinders. New York has secured at least a point in three of its last four games and they will try to extend that streak tonight.
The Ducks will likely turn to Lukas Dostal in net, who has been respectable but unspectacular. He enters this game with a 2.83 GAA and a .902 save percentage. For the Rangers, Igor Shesterkin’s performance will play a large role in determining New York’s chances, especially against a Ducks team that can generate scoring chances with high frequency. Shesterkin is slightly ahead of Dostal in terms of GAA and save percentage, but the difference isn't massive by any means.
Anaheim’s offense is spearheaded by Troy Terry, who has tallied 10 goals and 24 assists on the campaign, while Leo Carlsson has 17 goals and 23 assists. Chris Kreider is facing his former team in New York and will try to make an impact as well. On the Rangers side, Artemi Panarin leads the scoring charge with 11 goals and 22 assists.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Artemi Panarin | Over 1.5 Points |
Troy Terry | Over 0.5 Assists |
Chris Kreider | Over 0.5 Points |
Score Projection: Ducks 3 – Rangers 4
Win Probability: Ducks 43%, Rangers 57%
I think we are in for a high-scoring game between the Ducks and Rangers on Monday night. The Ducks have seen four of their last five games reach the seven-goal mark in total and they have given up 4.5 goals per game over their last two outings. We should see another high-scoring affair here involving Anaheim, so I'm taking the over.
