The Anaheim Ducks and Columbus Blue Jackets are set to collide on Tuesday night in Ohio. Anaheim enters this game tied for the top spot in the Pacific Division after a 4-1 win over the New York Rangers in their most recent outing. Columbus enters this game on a five-game losing streak and they will try to get back on the right track on home ice. Before Tuesday's action begins on the ice, you will find my Ducks vs Blue Jackets prediction below.

Anaheim has shown plenty of heart to stay at the top of the Pacific Division, most recently posting a 4-1 win against the Rangers behind a standout performance from Cutter Gauthier. However, they were throttled 4-1 by New Jersey on Saturday, suggesting the Ducks remain streaky and capable of both explosive offense and defensive lapses at even strength. This is the second game of a back-to-back for the Ducks, who will have to overcome a rest disadvantage here.
Columbus has struggled in recent outings, losing by a 4-1 margin to Carolina and just falling 3-2 to Vegas during their five-game losing streak. The Blue Jackets are at home here and will try to take advantage of the fact that they have two extra days of rest compared to their opponents in this matchup.
Anaheim’s Lukas Dostal has been tested frequently and has been respectable this year for the most part. Dostal has a 12-6-1 record and a 2.73 GAA on the year going into this contest in Columbus. His performance will be crucial in keeping the game within reach, especially if Ducks defenders are sluggish on the back-to-back. Columbus tends to rely on Jet Greaves between the pipes, who has a .906 save percentage and a 2.75 GAA this season.
On Anaheim’s side, Cutter Gauthier is an offensive catalyst with a team-high 18 goals for the season. Troy Terry and Jackson LaCombe have also chipped in, providing scoring depth that has helped Anaheim exceed expectations. For Columbus, defenseman Zach Werenski is the top playmaker on their roster. He leads the Blue Jackets with 33 points, including 24 assists.
Player | Stat Type | Projection |
|---|---|---|
Cutter Gauthier | Points | 1+ point |
Zach Werenski | Assists | 1+ assist |
Troy Terry | Goals | 1+ goal |
Score Projection: Columbus 4 – Anaheim 3
Win Probability: Columbus 56%, Anaheim 44%
I'm going to take my chances with the struggling Columbus Blue Jackets in this game. With equal rest on both sides, the Ducks would probably get the job done here. But with the Jackets being at home and with a sizable rest advantage, the Jackets should be competitive and are worth playing on the moneyline.
