Carolina comes into this game having won its last two contests after a stretch where results were less consistent. The Hurricanes most recently picked up a convincing 6-3 victory over the Dallas Stars, with defenseman K’Andre Miller contributing two goals and an assist. Carolina’s offense has shown the capability to score in bunches and create sustained pressure, especially when they can keep the puck in the offensive zone.
Anaheim’s recent results have been rough. The Ducks are currently enduring a seven-game losing streak and have dropped 10 of their last 12 games overall, including a 5-2 loss to the Flyers in their most recent outing. Anaheim’s defense has been porous, surrendering five or more goals in four of their last five games.
Carolina’s goaltending is expected to be done by Frederik Andersen in this contest. Andersen has struggled this season with a 3.43 GAA, but Carolina’s ability to limit high-danger chances and make timely saves gives them an edge in controlling this contest if he comes out and plays even a decent game.
Anaheim’s Lukas Dostal has seen mixed results with a 3.22 goals against average and a save percentage below the league average for starting goalies. The combination of a struggling defense and inconsistent goaltending numbers has contributed to Anaheim’s recent slide, and slowing down a high-octane Hurricanes attack will be a tall task.
Carolina’s offense has been paced by Sebastian Aho, who has consistently found the scoresheet with both goals and assists. Andrei Svechnikov has also been a key contributor in recent games, and the return of Seth Jarvis from injury has added another scoring threat.
Anaheim’s offense has leaned on Troy Terry and Cutter Gauthier for production. Terry has shown scoring prowess, while Gauthier recently notched his 20th goal of the season. However, additional scoring has been hard to come by on a consistent basis for the Ducks of late.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Sebastian Aho | Over 0.5 Assists |
Andrei Svechnikov | Over 0.5 Points |
Score Projection: Anaheim Ducks 2 – Carolina Hurricanes 5
Win Probability: Anaheim Ducks 22%, Carolina Hurricanes 78%
I am laying the puckline with the Hurricanes in this matchup from Raleigh. The Ducks are playing some dreadful hockey lately and I don't expect that to change on the road against a team that is playing very well recently.
