Why the LA Rams Are Super Bowl Favorites: Who Can Stop LA?

The Los Angeles Rams are not merely Super Bowl contenders heading into 2026. The betting market has separated them from the rest of the NFL.
DraftKings has priced Los Angeles at +550 to win Super Bowl LXI in August, with no other team shorter than +1000. That is a significant gap for an NFL futures market and reflects a roster that looks considerably stronger than the one that reached last season's NFC Championship Game.
Le's start with Matthew Stafford. At 37, Stafford produced arguably the best regular season of his career. He led the NFL with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdown passes, threw only 8 interceptions and won his first MVP award. More importantly for Rams bettors, Los Angeles led the league with 30.5 points per game.
The supporting cast remains frightening. Puka Nacua led the NFL with 129 receptions last season, while Davante Adams led the league with 14 receiving touchdowns. Sean McVay therefore enters 2026 with continuity around the reigning MVP and an offense that opponents already struggled to slow down.
There are legitimate durability questions. Stafford is now 38, while Nacua has dealt with a hip issue during camp. But if the major pieces stay healthy, there is little reason to expect a dramatic offensive decline.
The biggest reason the Rams have shortened from around +800 to +550 is what they have done on the other side of the ball.
Los Angeles traded Jared Verse and significant draft capital to Cleveland for Myles Garrett, then signed the reigning Defensive Player of the Year to a revised five-year deal. Garrett arrives after recording an NFL-record 23 sacks in 2025.
That alone transforms the Rams' pass rush. But it was not their only major defensive investment. Los Angeles also acquired All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie from Kansas City and handed him a four-year, $124 million extension. After a secondary that was vulnerable at times last season, the Rams have added one of football's best cover corners behind one of its best pass rushers.
And then there is Aaron Donald.
This is no longer just social-media speculation. The future Hall of Fame defensive tackle has worked out with the Rams twice while considering a return from retirement. Sean McVay confirmed this week that there is no deadline on Donald's decision, while Garrett has acknowledged the possibility of playing alongside him.
Donald retired after the 2023 season, so expecting the 35-year-old to immediately become the player who won three Defensive Player of the Year awards would be unrealistic.
The Rams would not need that version. Imagine preparing protection schemes for Garrett on the edge while Donald attacks from the interior, while Braden Fiske and Byron Young picks up the scraps. Even a reduced-snap Donald used in obvious passing situations could turn an already upgraded defense into something entirely different, and give many an Offensive Coordinator sleepless nights heading into the 2026 season.
If one team deserves to reject the idea that Los Angeles is inevitable, it is Seattle.
The Seahawks went 14-3, allowed just 17.2 points per game, beat the Rams in the NFC Championship Game and then defeated New England 29-13 to win Super Bowl LX.
Crucially, this does not look like a champion being dismantled. Seattle brought back 20 of its 22 Super Bowl starters.
Mike Macdonald's defense is also exactly the type of unit capable of disrupting McVay and Stafford through disguise rather than simply attempting to win individual matchups.
Seattle is the biggest obstacle to Los Angeles reaching the Super Bowl.
Buffalo remains one of the shortest-priced AFC contenders at around +1000, and the reason is straightforward: Josh Allen gives the Bills a chance against anyone.
There is less certainty around Buffalo than Los Angeles, particularly defensively, but Allen is perhaps the quarterback best equipped to survive a game in which Garrett and the Rams' pass rush constantly destroy the original play.
If this becomes a quarterback-driven Super Bowl, Stafford versus Allen would be close to a coin flip, and that is only if Stafford somehow manages to replicate his outstanding 2025 form.
Baltimore may offer the most interesting value among the elite contenders.
The Ravens finished only 8-9 last season as Lamar Jackson battled injuries, but the market expects a major rebound. Their win total sits at 11.5, with Super Bowl odds around +1000. Baltimore also added elite edge rusher Trey Hendrickson this offseason.
A healthy Jackson creates a completely different challenge for a Rams defense built to hunt traditional pocket quarterbacks.
The Rams have arguably the NFL's best roster, but best team and best futures bet are not necessarily the same thing.
At +550, there is little margin for injury or variance across an entire NFL season and postseason. Garrett is already managing a knee problem in training camp, while Stafford's age makes quarterback health impossible to ignore.
The Rams deserve their position at the top of the board. The question for bettors is whether +550 still compensates them for the journey. For anyone looking elsewhere, Seattle is the team I would fear most if holding a Rams Super Bowl ticket.
