The San Antonio Spurs will face the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night in a Western Conference matchup from Phoenix. San Antonio is undefeated so far and riding the stellar play of Victor Wembanyama, while Phoenix is struggling to find its new identity and missing key contributors. Here, I break down this matchup on the court and give you my Spurs vs Suns prediction.
The Spurs come in at 5‑0 and have generated a ton of excitement early in the season. Victor Wembanyama is off the charts, averaging 30.2 points, 14.6 rebounds, and 4.8 blocks per game, giving San Antonio a two‑way anchor they lacked in prior seasons. The team is showing defensive toughness and an offensive identity despite missing veteran guard De'Aaron Fox (hamstring) and other key players.
The Suns enter at 2‑4 after a disappointing season last year and major roster changes this summer. They parted ways with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal and brought in younger pieces like Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks. But Green and Brooks are both currently sidelined with injuries. Veteran scorer Devin Booker remains the focal point of their offense, averaging 30.3 points and 6.5 assists per game.
The big question for the Suns is whether they can get enough help from their supporting cast to help Booker. They haven't found enough help for him on a consistent basis for the most part this year and will try to change that on their home floor tonight.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Victor Wembanyama (Spurs) | Over 28.5 points |
Devin Booker (Suns) | Over 27.5 points |
Score Projection: San Antonio Spurs 125 – Phoenix Suns 112
Win Probability: San Antonio Spurs 52%, Phoenix Suns 48%
The Suns are at home in this game and they are 2-1 on their home floor thus far. But I'm going with the Spurs to win and cover the spread in this matchup. Look for Wemby to have another huge game in this contest, while the Suns struggle to find any help for Devin Booker again. I'll lay the points with San Antonio in this Sunday night matchup from The Valley.
