The San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks are set to square off on Tuesday night in the 2025 NBA Cup final. Both teams enter this neutral‑site showdown with identical 18‑7 records and momentum on their side, with star power leading both teams into this contest where the cup is on the line. San Antonio comes off a dramatic win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in the semifinals, while New York advanced with a dominant performance against the Orlando Magic. Victor Wembanyama made a successful return for San Antonio after missing a significant stretch with a calf strain. He delivered 22 points and 9 rebounds in limited minutes to power a 111‑109 win over the Thunder in the semifinals, snapping OKC’s 16‑game winning streak and getting the Spurs to the title game. The Spurs carry a three‑game winning streak into this final and will aim for their first trophy since Kawhi Leonard led them to an NBA Finals win over the Miami Heat.
The Knicks have also been rolling, winning five straight and earning their final berth by dispatching Orlando 132‑120 behind Jalen Brunson’s 40 points. New York is dealing with some backcourt absences, as Miles McBride remains sidelined with an ankle sprain and Landry Shamet is out with a shoulder injury. But the core group of starters for the Knicks is healthy and will try to give the Knicks their first trophy since the 1970s.
It will be interesting to see whether either of these teams are impacted by any perceived pressure surrounding this game. The NBA Cup is still new and not that important in terms of historical context. Still, there is a trophy on the line, along with a nice bonus payout to the players on the winning team. The Knicks have more playoff experience with their current group, but this is uncharted territory for both of these rosters.

Victor Wembanyama | First Basket |
Jalen Brunson | Over 30.5 Points |
Score Projection: Spurs 113 – Knicks 118
Win Probability: Spurs 41%, Knicks 59%
This is going to be a highly entertaining matchup in Las Vegas with the cup on the line. But I think that the Knicks will win and cover the spread as a slight favorite in Las Vegas. The Knicks have more big game experience to rely on here and they should hold their nerve down the stretch, winning the NBA Cup and giving Knicks fans plenty to be excited for heading into the rest of the season.
