The San Antonio Spurs will head to LA to take on the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night at Crypto.com Arena. The Lakers come in at 6‑2 and are riding a four‑game win streak, while the Spurs are 5‑1 after an excellent start to the year. Two of the biggest stars in the league will go head-to-head in this matchup and you can continue reading to find my Spurs vs Lakers prediction before tip-off.
The Lakers are dealing with the ongoing absence of LeBron James (back). Other contributors such as Gabe Vincent and Maxi Kleber also remain out or sidelined. But Luka Dončić is expected to suit up, which is huge given his current elite averages. The question will be whether Austin Reaves will join him, as the Lakers' leading scorer on the season is listed as questionable going into this game.
The Spurs have also looked very sharp early. The ascent of Victor Wembanyama has been the key to their success, as his ability to impact both ends of the floor stands out. The team around him is also maturing nicely, with players like Devin Vassell and Stephon Castle looking like bona fide NBA talents. The Spurs are without De'Aaron Fox, but they haven't needed him during their strong start to the season.
The question in this game will be whether either team can stop the other team's top star. Wembanyama is a matchup nightmare for everyone in the league thanks to his combination of size and shooting ability. Doncic's size for a guard makes him just as tough to cover. This game could very well come down to which star causes the most problems for the opposing defense.
Player | Prop Line |
|---|---|
Luka Dončić (LAL) | Over 32.5 points |
Austin Reaves (LAL) | Under 24.5 points |
Victor Wembanyama (SAS) | Over 27.5 points |
Score Projection: Lakers 118 – Spurs 117
Win Probability: Lakers 55%, Spurs 45%
This game is can't miss television, even if I am going to pay for staying up late to watch it on the East Coast. As far as the outcome is concerned, I'm going to take the points with the Spurs. They could very well win this game outright as an underdog, with the unstoppable Wembanyama leading the charge. Both of the big stars in this game should shine, but I'll take the points in a game that will be very close and could go San Antonio's way.
