The San Antonio Spurs head to Southern California on Monday night to face the Los Angeles Clippers in a late-season Western Conference clash with high stakes for each team. San Antonio has moved near the top of the standings behind dominant two-way play and the continued rise of Victor Wembanyama. The Clippers are fighting to maintain their position in the play-in tournament portion of the conference standings and remain dangerous at home. Here, we take a closer look at this important Spurs vs Clippers matchup in the NBA.
San Antonio enters the game as one of the league’s most impressive teams this season. The Spurs have pushed close to the 50-win mark and are riding a strong run that has included several comeback victories and dominant defensive outings. Their rise has been fueled by an elite defense and efficient scoring anchored by their franchise centerpiece.
The Clippers have experienced a different type of season. After a slow start that left them buried in the standings early, Los Angeles rallied with a strong midseason run that pulled the club back into the playoff race. Their defense continues to keep them competitive, although their offense can fluctuate depending on the availability of their leading scorer.
Another storyline to watch involves injuries and rotation depth. Los Angeles could be without leading scorer Kawhi Leonard due to an ankle issue, which would significantly change the offensive outlook for the home team. San Antonio also enters the contest missing a few role players from its bench, though the starting unit remains intact and productive.

The big question going into this game is whether or not Kawhi Leonard is going to be able to play. If he does, the Clippers could very well win this game outright at home, while things get a lot tougher for the Clippers if he is sidelined. I'm going to take the points with LA here, with the potential of Leonard playing shifting the line in their favor, but bettors may want to wait to find out if Leonard is going to play before locking anything in.
