The Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns will square off on Thursday night in the NBA. Detroit enters this game as one of the better teams in the league this season with a 28-10 record, while Phoenix is also firmly in playoff contention with a 24-16 mark. This clash at Little Caesars Arena sets up as a fascinating test of Detroit’s offensive firepower against a Suns squad that has won three of its last four games going into Thursday night. Before tip-off, keep reading to find my Suns vs Pistons prediction.
Pick: | Pistons -6.5 ATS PRO |
Confidence: | 3/5 |
Detroit has been one of the more successful teams in the NBA this season, staging a remarkable turnaround from recent years and leading the Eastern Conference with an impressive 28-10 record. Cade Cunningham’s continued growth into a go-to star has propelled the Pistons offense, while role players have stepped up effectively around him. Still, Detroit faces some uncertainty on the injury front, with Tobias Harris and Isaiah Stewart listed with day-to-day concerns and Jalen Duren’s status also questionable. Duren's availability would be especially important for the Pistons here, as he would help Detroit immensely on the glass.
Phoenix has been strong at times this season, entering this game at 24-16. The Suns have won a number of games behind collective effort rather than relying on a single superstar performance, and Royce O’Neale’s recent shooting has been a notable positive. However, Phoenix also deals with injury considerations, with Jalen Green unavailable and O'Neale and Devin Booker listed as day-to-day. Booker leads the Suns in scoring with 25.2 points per game and Phoenix could certainly use him if they want to keep up with the Pistons tonight.
Score Projection: Pistons 120 – Suns 112 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Pistons 65%, Suns 35% ATS PRO
My best bet for this inter-conference matchup is for the Detroit Pistons to cover the spread as a favorite on their home floor. The Pistons are 14-4 at home so far this season. And while there are important injury questions for both teams to deal with going into this game, I think that Detroit is best equipped to overcome some of those concerns in this game. I'll lay the points with Detroit, who should extend their lead atop the Eastern Conference over the rest of their competition.
