The Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks meet Monday night in a Southeast Division contest that carries playoff implications in the Eastern Conference standings. Orlando enters the evening with a 38-28 record and sits fifth in the East, while Atlanta checks in at 36-31 and ninth in the conference. Both clubs arrive on strong runs, each winning its last five games, which sets up a Magic vs Hawks game featuring two confident teams pushing for position as the regular season enters the final stretch.
Orlando arrives in Atlanta playing its best basketball of the season. The Magic have won seven straight games, including convincing victories over Cleveland, Milwaukee, and Minnesota. During that stretch, they have scored at least 115 points in each contest, showing improved offensive efficiency while maintaining their defensive identity.
The Hawks bring their own winning streak into this game. Atlanta also carries a nine-game winning streak, highlighted by a 124-112 win over Dallas and a 125-116 victory against Philadelphia. The offense has been the driving force, as the Hawks rank among the top teams in assists and operate at one of the fastest paces in the league.
Another storyline centers on injuries. Orlando may be without Franz Wagner, who has been dealing with an ankle issue, while guard Anthony Black is also listed as unavailable. Atlanta has a couple of players listed as game-time decisions, including Jonathan Kuminga and Dyson Daniels. Those situations could influence rotations.
Perhaps the biggest storyline surrounding this game was the fact that it was supposed to be Magic City Night at State Farm Arena. That is, before Adam Silver and the NBA stepped in to ruin a beautiful cultural celebration. What will the energy in the building be like with that in mind? Only time will tell.

Category | Orlando Magic | Atlanta Hawks |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 115.7 | 117.7 |
Points allowed per game | 114.1 | 116.6 |
Team Field Goal % | 47% | 47% |
Rebounds per game | 43.8 | 43.4 |
Assists per game | 26.6 | 30.3 |
This game features two teams playing excellent basketball, which makes the spread appropriate. Orlando has shown strong defensive discipline during its winning streak, but the absence or limitation of key players such as Franz Wagner could reduce its offensive balance.
Atlanta holds a slight edge due to its offensive flow and playing on their home court. The Hawks lead the league in assists and consistently generate high-quality looks through ball movement. That style tends to create scoring runs that can separate games late, especially against teams dealing with injuries.
Banchero should produce another strong performance, but Atlanta’s scoring depth and pace give the Hawks the advantage in a high-scoring contest. I'll lay the points with Atlanta in this early-evening matchup on Monday.
