Wednesday night’s NBA slate closes out 2025 with a highly anticipated regular-season matchup between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs. Both teams have been among the league’s top performers this season and enter this game having recently faced each other in the NBA Cup final. San Antonio is a slight favorite at home, as they look for revenge against the Knicks in this contest. Before tip-off in Texas, continue reading to find my Knicks vs Spurs prediction.

Injuries are a key concern for both teams heading into New Year’s Eve play. San Antonio will be without Devin Vassell, ruled out with an adductor strain, and guard Stephon Castle is listed as questionable with a sprained thumb. Those absences could impact spacing and guard play for the Spurs. New York is also managing its own concerns, with starter Josh Hart out, Landry Shamet sidelined, and Mitchell Robinson listed as out due to ankle issues.
This game is a rematch of the teams’ recent NBA Cup final, where the Knicks came away with a 124-113 victory, showing they can handle the Spurs’ versatility when at full strength on a neutral court. San Antonio will look to respond in this game on their home floor, where the Spurs are 11-4 on the season. Victor Wembanyama has been playing on a minutes restriction after returning from a calf injury, which adds another item to monitor going into this contest.
Every time these teams play right now, expect a little bit of added intensity, as they could meet in the NBA Finals later in the season. Both of these teams have played some of the best basketball in the league this year and will try to continue doing so in this measuring stick game from San Antonio.

I'm taking the Spurs in this important inter-conference matchup in the NBA. The revenge angle doesn't mean a whole lot to me here. What does matter to me is that the Knicks have been mediocre on the road this season, while the Spurs have been dominant on their home floor. San Antonio should win and cover the spread as a slight favorite.
