Key Storylines
- The Timberwolves are 40-24 and fifth in the Western Conference, coming off a tough loss to the Lakers the night before in a back-to-back situation.
- The Clippers have rallied to a 32-32 record and can improve their position in the playoff race with a home win.
- Injuries hamper LAC depth, most notably with Bradley Beal and John Collins out, but key contributors like Kawhi Leonard and Bennedict Mathurin have been delivering.
- Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert offer a potent combination of scoring and defensive rebounding that gives them an edge in many categories. The Wolves don't have any names on their injury report going into this matchup.
Key Players
Minnesota Timberwolves
- Anthony Edwards: Minnesota’s engine on offense, averaging close to 30 points per game and a threat to go off anytime he gets his rhythm. His scoring prowess often dictates how competitive the Wolves are in tight contests.
- Rudy Gobert: Anchoring the defense and leading the team in rebounds, Gobert’s presence on the glass helps limit second chances for opponents and fuels Minnesota’s transition game.
Los Angeles Clippers
- Kawhi Leonard: The Clippers’ leading scorer and franchise cornerstone, averaging near 28 points per game while contributing on both ends. When Kawhi has the ball in late-game situations, LA’s chances improve significantly.
- Bennedict Mathurin: Providing scoring on the wing, Mathurin’s ability to stretch the floor and attack closeouts has lifted the Clippers’ offense during their recent improvements.
- Darius Garland: As LA's new facilitator, his assists and playmaking set the tone for the Clippers’ offense against a tough Wolves defense.

Final Thoughts
This game shapes up as a tight battle between two Western Conference squads trending in different directions. Minnesota’s strong interior defense and high-powered offense face a Clippers team that has found cohesion and confidence at home. Given the Wolves’ tough schedule recently and a back-to-back to deal with here, the Clippers’ home-court advantage and role players stepping up make them my pick to cover the number here.
