The Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets will face off in Game 5 of their Western Conference first-round playoff series on Monday night. Minnesota holds a 3-1 edge after a dominant 112-96 win in Game 4, yet that victory came at a steep cost. Injuries to key contributors have shifted the outlook dramatically heading into Monday night in Denver. The Nuggets now face elimination on their home floor, while the Timberwolves must prove they can finish the job without key scoring options. Before tip-off in Denver, continue reading to get my Timberwolves vs Nuggets Game 5 prediction.
The Minnesota Timberwolves enter Game 5 with control of the series but major uncertainty surrounding its roster. Anthony Edwards, who averaged 28.8 points per game during the regular season, is dealing with a knee injury and is expected to miss time. Donte DiVincenzo is already out for the season with a torn Achilles. Despite those setbacks, the Timberwolves delivered one of their most impressive performances in Game 4, fueled by a stunning 43-point outing from Ayo Dosunmu.
Denver is in a must-win situation to keep its season alive in Game 5. The Nuggets have struggled to generate consistent offense against Minnesota’s defense, scoring under 100 points in multiple games this series. Nikola Jokic continues to produce across the stat sheet, but efficiency has been an issue, and frustration for him boiled over late in Game 4. Playing at home gives Denver a clear edge, and history shows they are capable of responding in elimination scenarios.

Minnesota Timberwolves
Even with Minnesota holding a 3-1 series lead, the injuries to Edwards and DiVincenzo shift the outlook of this series significantly. The Timberwolves showed their depth in Game 4, but sustaining that level of production on the road against a desperate team is a tall order. Denver’s offensive ceiling remains higher, especially at home, and Jokic is unlikely to have another inefficient outing of that magnitude.
Expect the Nuggets to come out with urgency and control the game early. While Minnesota’s defense has been effective, the lack of its primary scorer creates limitations in late-game situations. I'm going to lay the points with the Nuggets here, as they should keep their season alive before heading back to Minnesota for Game 6.
