The Miami Heat (3‑2) will take on the Los Angeles Lakers (4‑2) at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Both of these teams are above .500 for the season and will try to get a win in this matchup as well. Before tip-off from Los Angeles, continue reading to get my Heat vs Lakers prediction for the final game on the Sunday NBA schedule.
The injury report is the biggest storyline going into this game. The Lakers are without some important pieces. LeBron James (sciatica), Maxi Kleber (oblique), Gabe Vincent (ankle), and Adou Thiero (knee) are out for this matchup. Deandre Ayton (back spasms) is listed as probable and the Lakers will be hoping he’s available and effective.
Miami's backcourt depth has taken a hit going into this game. Tyler Herro (ankle/foot surgery), Terry Rozier (legal), and Kaspars Jakucionis (groin) are out. Norman Powell is listed as questionable (groin). That means the Heat will lean more heavily on their frontcourt and role players, especially if their leading scorer in Powell is out.
Offensively, Miami is putting up 125.4 points per game through five contests. Forward Bam Adebayo is logging 23.0 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Adebayo will have to like his matchup against a Lakers team that lacks a versatile enough big to defend him consistently.
The Lakers have been efficient offensively. They average 117.5 points per game on offense and have received huge contributions from Luka Doncic. Doncic scored 44 points in the Lakers' win over the Grizzlies on Friday. Austin Reaves is leading the Lakers with 32 points per game and has stepped up to fill the void left by all of the Lakers' injuries.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Bam Adebayo (Heat) | Over 20.5 points |
Deandre Ayton (Lakers) | Over 9.5 rebounds |
Andrew Wiggins (Heat) | Over 20.5 points |
Score Projection: Miami Heat 112 – Los Angeles Lakers 120
Win Probability: Miami Heat 45% | Los Angeles Lakers 55%
The Lakers have won two games in a row going into this contest and I think that they will continue their winning streak here. Los Angeles has performed very well when Doncic has been healthy and able to play. That should continue in this game against the short-handed Heat. I'll lay the points with Los Angeles to close out the night in The Association.
