The Memphis Grizzlies travel to American Airlines Center to take on the Dallas Mavericks on Friday. Both teams sit with records well below .500 and are running out of time to get back into playoff contention. Before these struggling squads face one another, you will find my Grizzlies vs Mavericks prediction for this contest below.
Pick: Memphis Grizzlies +5.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: 1 out of 5
Both teams enter this matchup struggling for consistency and coping with absent contributors. Memphis has endured a challenging stretch with key players like Ja Morant and Zach Edey out due to injury, leaving others to fill in and adapt on the fly. The Grizzlies have lost seven of their last 10 games and have struggled to control the glass without their usual size inside, making close outings difficult. In response, the club added veteran Taj Gibson for experience up front to help bolster interior depth.
Dallas enters this contest below the .500 mark and is facing pressure to break a six-game home skid. Their 130-121 loss to Sacramento last night highlighted issues on both ends of the floor, including turnovers and free-throw shooting woes. A combination of youth development and trades have reshaped the Mavericks’ rotation this season and consistency remains elusive for them. At this point, these teams are playing just to build some morale toward next season more than anything else.
Memphis | Dallas | |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 115.4 | 114.5 |
Points allowed per game | 118.1 | 117.9 |
Team Field Goal % | 46% | 47% |
Rebounds per game | 44.5 | 44.6 |
Assists per game | 28.8 | 25.1 |
Score Projection: Memphis 117 – Dallas 121 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Memphis 46%, Dallas 54% ATS PRO
I'm going to take the points with the Grizzlies in this contest, even though it is very difficult to feel confident in either of these teams right now. Memphis at least has a rest advantage to rely on here and that should help them to keep this game close, or even win on the road, against a struggling Mavs team on the second night of a back-to-back.
