The Los Angeles Lakers make the short trip from Manhattan to Brooklyn on Tuesday with a chance to bank another road win before heading back west, as they take on the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center. The Lakers have looked like a top-five Western Conference team with Luka Doncic playing at an MVP level and LeBron James still commanding respect late in games. Brooklyn, meanwhile, has struggled mightily and will try to bounce back from a blowout loss. Here, I break down this contest in pro hoops and make my Lakers vs Nets prediction.
Our Lakers vs Nets Pick
Pick: Lakers -8.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: 3/5
Game Snapshot
- Matchup: Los Angeles Lakers @ Brooklyn Nets
- Date & Time: Tuesday, February 3, 2026, 7:30 PM ET
- Venue: Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York
- Broadcast: NBA League Pass
Key Storylines
- Luka Doncic is carrying a massive load, pacing Los Angeles at 33.6 points per game with 8.8 assists while drawing two on the ball and creating high-value corner threes for role players.
- LeBron James remains impactful as a secondary creator and finisher for the Lakers. His decision-making in the mid-post has stabilized LA's half-court offense in tight fourth quarters.
- Deandre Ayton gives the Lakers a size advantage on the glass. That matters against a Brooklyn group that has struggled to finish possessions and doesn't have much rebounding talent outside of Nic Claxton.
- Michael Porter Jr. missed Sunday's due to personal reasons. His availability is pivotal for Brooklyn’s spacing and late-clock shotmaking. Porter is no longer listed on the injury report for the Nets.
- The Nets' injury list has featured Noah Clowney and Ziaire Williams recently, thinning the team's frontcourt options. Cam Thomas’ scoring helps, but consistency has wavered across the board for Brooklyn
- The Nets are coming off a 130-77 loss to the Detroit Pistons. That was the second loss by 50 points or more for the Nets since the start of the new year and they will be motivated to try and get back on the right track here.
Head-to-Head & Betting Trends
- This is the first of two regular-season games to be played between the Lakers and Nets this season.
- The Lakers are 26-22 against the spread going into this game.
- Brooklyn is 24-23-1 against the spread entering Tuesday night.
- The over is 27-21 in Lakers games so far this year.
- Brooklyn has seen the under go 28-20 in their games this season.
Lakers vs Nets Model Projection
Score Projection: Los Angeles 117 – Brooklyn 108
Win Probability: Los Angeles 68%, Brooklyn 32%
Final Thoughts
My best bet for this inter-conference contest in the NBA is for the Los Angeles Lakers to win and cover the spread on the road. The Lakers are 17-11 on the road this season and they should perform just fine here against a Nets team that has struggled to stay competitive against most of the competent competition that they have faced since the start of the new year.
