The Houston Rockets will host the Los Angeles Clippers at Toyota Center in Houston on Thursday night in a Western Conference contest in the NBA. Houston enters this game with a strong 15-6 record and is positioned among the top teams in the West, while the Clippers are struggling at 6-18 with internal turmoil and injury issues. Before tip-off from Space City, keep reading to find my Rockets vs Clippers prediction.
Houston enters this game as a comfortable favorite, off to a strong start this season and using a break in their schedule to rest and hone execution. The Rockets are averaging 120.9 points per game and allow only 110.3 points per game, ranking among the league’s best on both ends of the floor. Kevin Durant leads Houston with 25.3 points per night, backed by the versatile playmaking of Amen Thompson and strong interior production from Alperen Şengün, though Şengün’s status is day-to-day due to illness. Jabari Smith Jr. and Reed Sheppard round out the Rockets’ balanced attack, helping Houston maintain a potent offense even in the face of injuries to role players such as Dorian Finney-Smith and Tari Eason.
The Clippers’ season has been far more turbulent. With a 6-18 record, Los Angeles sits near the bottom of the Western Conference and has struggled to gain traction. Star guard James Harden continues to shoulder the scoring load, averaging 26.8 points and leading the team in assists with 8.3 per game, but the supporting cast has been inconsistent. Kawhi Leonard has missed significant time, Bradley Beal is sidelined for the season, Derrick Jones Jr. is out, and young wing Jordan Miller is listed as questionable. Recent organizational drama, including the abrupt parting with veteran Chris Paul, has added off-court distractions to Los Angeles’ challenges.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Kevin Durant | Over 26.5 Points |
Alperen Şengün | First Basket |
Amen Thompson | Over 5.5 Assists |
James Harden | Over 24.5 Points |
Score Projection: Rockets 119 – Clippers 104
Win Probability: Rockets 83%, Clippers 17%
The Rockets’ offensive depth, defensive efficiency, and favorable trends as sizable favorites should give them the edge in this game. The Clippers’ ongoing availability issues and internal distractions won't help their cause in this matchup. I'll lay the points with the Rockets at home, as they should continue the misery that has been the Clippers' season.
