The Oklahoma City Thunder will host the Houston Rockets in a massive NBA matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Thunder are the first team to reach 40 wins in the NBA this season and they will try to get another win here despite missing some of their young stars. Here, I break down this matchup on the basketball court and you can find my Rockets vs Thunder prediction right here.
Our Rockets vs Thunder Pick
Pick: Rockets +2.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: 3/5
Game Snapshot
- Matchup: Houston Rockets @ Oklahoma City Thunder
- Date & Time: Saturday, February 7, 2026, 3:30 PM ET
- Venue: Paycom Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
- Broadcast: ABC
Key Storylines
- Injuries matter for both sides going into this game. Houston lists Tari Eason as out, with Steven Adams and Fred VanVleet out for the season. Oklahoma City is missing arguably its two best players, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams out of action. OKC also has Ajay Mitchell out of action, and it will be interesting to see how they initiate offense here.
- Both of these teams are coming off losses in their most recent outings. The Thunder took a loss to the San Antonio Spurs in their last game, dropping to 1-4 for the season against the Spurs. The Rockets have dropped two straight games, getting swept in a back-to-back against the Boston Celtics and Charlotte Hornets.
- Both of these teams enter this contest in the top four in the Western Conference standings. The Thunder look like they will be hard to catch in the West in the race for the top seed in the conference. But the Rockets' spot is a lot less secure, as there are several teams below them in the standings that could catch them if Houston doesn't start winning games in a hurry.
Head-to-Head & Betting Trends
- Past meetings this season favor Oklahoma City 2-0. The first showdown in Oklahoma City finished 125-124 after two overtimes, then the Thunder won in Houston by a score of 111-91.
- Houston is 22-28 against the spread going into this matchup.
- Oklahoma City is 25-27 against the spread this season.
- The Thunder are 26-26 in the over/under market heading into Saturday's play.
- The under is 28-21-1 in Rockets games so far this year.
Rockets vs Thunder Model Projection
Score Projection: Houston 112 – Oklahoma City 110
Win Probability: Houston 50%, Oklahoma City 50%
Final Thoughts
If the Thunder had a healthy roster, they would probably roll in this matchup at home against the Rockets. But the absences of Williams and SGA will make it so much harder for OKC to get good looks at the rim and from the mid-range. The Thunder can still win this game if they get hot from three-point range, but I'm going to take the points with Houston here, as they should take advantage of the absences of several key members of the Thunder roster.
