Key Storylines
- Injuries matter for both sides going into this game. Houston lists Tari Eason as out, with Steven Adams and Fred VanVleet out for the season. Oklahoma City is missing arguably its two best players, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams out of action. OKC also has Ajay Mitchell out of action, and it will be interesting to see how they initiate offense here.
- Both of these teams are coming off losses in their most recent outings. The Thunder took a loss to the San Antonio Spurs in their last game, dropping to 1-4 for the season against the Spurs. The Rockets have dropped two straight games, getting swept in a back-to-back against the Boston Celtics and Charlotte Hornets.
- Both of these teams enter this contest in the top four in the Western Conference standings. The Thunder look like they will be hard to catch in the West in the race for the top seed in the conference. But the Rockets’ spot is a lot less secure, as there are several teams below them in the standings that could catch them if Houston doesn’t start winning games in a hurry.
