The Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons will square off on Friday night in a highly anticipated inter‑conference NBA matchup at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. The Pistons enter the game with the best record in the Eastern Conference at 32‑10, while the Rockets come in at 26‑16, making this the best game on the Friday night slate. The Rockets are led by Kevin Durant’s All‑Star scoring and playmaking, while Detroit has been led by the excellent Cade Cunningham. Before tip-off in Detroit, keep reading to get my Rockets vs Pistons prediction in the NBA.
Pick: | Pistons -3.5 ATS PRO |
Confidence: | 3/5 |
Detroit enters this game on a hot streak, winning four straight and seven of their last eight outings, thanks to strong performances across their rotation. Jalen Duren led the most recent win with 20 points and 15 rebounds, while role players like Daniss Jenkins and Duncan Robinson have stepped up in the absence of some starters. Both Cade Cunningham and Caris LeVert missed the Pelicans game due to illness and remain questionable, which could impact Detroit’s offensive rhythm if either is limited tonight. Despite that, Detroit’s balanced attack and depth have powered their surge to the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
The Rockets have been competitive this season but have faltered in recent games, going 5‑5 in their last 10. Houston’s offense still ranks near the top of the league in scoring, paced by Kevin Durant’s 26.1 points per game, but they have struggled with consistency on defense and in closing out tight games. Their recent overtime loss to Philadelphia showcased both their scoring firepower and their difficulty generating stops in crunch time.
To complicate matters, this is the second game of a back-to-back for the Rockets. Steven Adams is out indefinitely with a Grade 3 ankle sprain, weakening Houston’s interior presence and rebounding, and Fred VanVleet remains sidelined for the season. Those absences could be significant against a Detroit frontline that is incredibly physical.
Score Projection: Houston Rockets 113 – Detroit Pistons 120 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Rockets 40%, Pistons 60% ATS PRO
This game projects to be high‑scoring and competitive, but Detroit’s recent momentum and rest advantage should set them apart in this game. I'll lay the points with Detroit, who should improve to 18-4 on their home floor against a Rockets team on the second night of a back-to-back after an overtime game last night.
