Key Storylines
- The Cavaliers dominated the previous meeting between these teams with a 133-107 win, led by Donovan Mitchell’s strong performance. However, Cleveland will be without key contributors Darius Garland and Sam Merrill, both of whom were ruled out Friday. Max Strus remains sidelined, while other role players like Dean Wade and Luke Travers are also unavailable. These injuries significantly alter the Cavs’ rotation and offensive balance.
- Philadelphia enters this second contest with stars Joel Embiid and Paul George listed as probable despite recent injury management, and Dominick Barlow questionable with a back contusion. The potential availability of Embiid and George bolsters the Sixers’ frontcourt and overall firepower, though none of that helped the Sixers against the Cavs earlier in the week.
- Mitchell continues to lead Cleveland offensively, but without Garland, the Cavs’ creation and distribution take a hit. Meanwhile, the 76ers’ Tyrese Maxey has been a scoring force all season long, averaging over 30 points this year and looking like a surefire All-Star once again for Philadelphia despite all of the roster issues around him.
- Both of these teams are .500 on the season in their environments for this game. The Cavs are 9-9 on the road for the season, while the Sixers enter this game with a 10-10 home record. But something has to give in this matchup.

Final Thoughts
The Cavaliers have dominated the 76ers in their games so far this season. But I think all of that is going to change in this game from Philadelphia. I'm laying the points with the Sixers, who should be mostly healthy against a Cavs team that is missing so many of its perimeter weapons. Even if Donovan Mitchell has a monster game here, the Sixers should still win and cover the number at home.
