Cavaliers vs 76ers Win Probability & Market Pricing

Updated October 22, 2026

The Cleveland Cavaliers travel to Philadelphia to face the 76ers on Thursday, October 22. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET at Xfinity Mobile Arena, with the game airing on ESPN.
Coming off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance last season, Cleveland will be making its 2026-27 debut. The new-look 76ers, meanwhile, enter at 1-0 after beating the defending champion Knicks 106-100 on opening night.
For this matchup, I've found some value in the player prop market with Jaylen Brown Over 19.5 points. Below, I'll break down why I like Brown to reach 20 points, including the stats, trends, and matchup factors behind my pick.
Encouraging Early Workload
Jaylen Brown played 35 minutes in Philadelphia's opening-night win over the Knicks, finishing with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting. He also scored 18 and 20 points in his final two preseason games. That's encouraging considering he's now sharing the offense with Maxey, Embiid, and LeBron.
Cleveland's Perimeter Defense
The Cavaliers ranked 15th in defensive rating (114.1) last season under Kenny Atkinson and allowed the eighth-most three-point attempts in the NBA. They also ranked 24th against spot-up plays, giving up 1.08 points per possession. With Mobley and Allen protecting the paint, Brown could find opportunities to score from the perimeter rather than relying entirely on drives to the basket.
Proven Scoring Consistency
Brown averaged 28.7 points with Boston last season, reaching 20+ in 64 of 71 games (90%). He also averaged 24.0 points and 9.0 free-throw attempts in three meetings with Cleveland. His role in Philadelphia is different, but his ability to draw fouls gives him another way to reach 20 points against the Cavaliers.

Why Our Model Sees Value:

“The 76ers' acquisition of Jaylen Brown has been somewhat overshadowed by the LeBron signing, but I think Brown could be the guy who takes this team to the next level. He scored 20+ points in two of three preseason games despite averaging just 24 minutes, then added 19 in the season opener. With tonight's total at 237.5, I'm expecting plenty of scoring opportunities and like his chances of reaching 20 points.”
With Jayson Tatum sidelined for most of last season, Brown was Boston's No. 1 scoring option, averaging 28.7 points in 34.4 minutes per game with a usage rate above 35%. He also averaged more than 20 field-goal attempts per game.
That workload is expected to decrease in Philadelphia, where he's sharing the offense with fellow All-Stars LeBron James, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid. In Tuesday's season opener against New York, Brown finished with 19 points, eight rebounds, and six assists on 7-of-14 shooting. His usage rate was around 22%, down considerably from last season.
His reduced usage is a legitimate concern for the Over 19.5 points, although it's still too early to know exactly what his role will look like.
Cleveland was much better defending the paint than the perimeter last season under Kenny Atkinson. The Cavaliers allowed just 45.6 points in the paint per game, the fifth-fewest in the NBA, but ranked 27th in opponent three-point percentage (37.0%).
The addition of Peyton Watson should help Cleveland on the perimeter, and the 6-foot-7 wing could spend plenty of time guarding Brown. Still, one defender can only do so much, especially against a Philadelphia offense with plenty of scoring threats.
Brown shot 34.7% from three last season and went 2-of-4 from deep in Tuesday's opener. Given Cleveland's struggles defending outside shooters, he should get some quality looks from three to help push him over 19.5 points.
Brown has had some success against Cleveland over the past two seasons, averaging 23.7 points across six regular-season meetings. He scored 20+ points in three of those games, including performances of 37 and 30 points.
Getting to the free-throw line has also been important. Brown averaged 9.0 free-throw attempts against Cleveland last season, including a November matchup where he scored 19 points despite shooting just 3-of-13 from the field. He made 12 of his 16 free throws that night.
Of course, both teams have made roster changes since those meetings, but Brown has shown he can still score when his shots aren't falling by getting to the free-throw line.
The game total is set at 237.5 points, trading at 50¢ on Polymarket, suggesting plenty of scoring opportunities tonight. That points to a higher-scoring game than Philadelphia's season opener against New York, when the two teams combined for just 206 points.
One concern I always consider with player props is a blowout cutting into a player's minutes, especially in the fourth quarter. However, Philadelphia is currently favored by just 2.5 points, and 67% of Cleveland's games and 74% of Philadelphia's games were decided by 10 points or fewer last season.
The 76ers will be looking to impress in their home opener, while Cleveland makes its season debut following last year's Eastern Conference Finals sweep. With both teams having plenty to play for and the spread pointing to a close game, I like Brown's chances of getting his usual workload.
