Cleveland completes a West Coast back‑to‑back swing with a high‑profile stop at the Intuit Dome, where Kawhi Leonard and the LA Clippers await. Cleveland just handled Portland 130-111 behind a career night from Jarrett Allen with 40 points and 17 rebounds, while Los Angeles lost its last game to the Philadelphia 76ers. But the real story here is that these two franchises just completed a blockbuster trade with one another the night before this game. Here, I break all of that down and give you my Cavaliers vs Clippers prediction on the court.
Our Cavaliers vs Clippers Pick
Pick: Cavaliers -2.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: 1/5
Game Snapshot
- Matchup: Cleveland Cavaliers @ LA Clippers
- Date & Time: Wednesday, February 4, 10:30 PM ET
- Venue: Intuit Dome, Inglewood, California
- Broadcast: NBA League Pass
Key Storylines
- The Clippers sent James Harden to the Cavaliers in exchange for Darius Garland on Tuesday. Both men will be out for their new teams for this game, sparing us the awkwardness of watching them play against their former clubs. But it will be interesting to see how this move impacts both teams moving forward when looking beyond this matchup.
- Evan Mobley remains out and Max Strus is sidelined as well, while Harden is out after the trade. That thrusts more creation responsibility on Donovan Mitchell and more finishing burden on Jarrett Allen, who is fresh off a 40‑17 masterpiece in Portland.
- The Clippers' identity is clear at home with Kawhi Leonard’s two‑way play shot creation, and Ivica Zubac’s glass control. They prefer a slower tempo and punish teams at the stripe and on the offensive glass. But losing Harden could hurt them immensely in this game as they don't have a consistent third scorer to help Leonard and Zubac.
- Tempo clash: Cleveland plays near league‑average pace with more three‑point volume, while Los Angeles grinds possessions with slower half‑court execution. That tug‑of‑war often pulls totals under key numbers when whistles slow.
- Awards and seeding context: Mitchell’s top‑line output near 29 points per game keeps him in the individual awards conversation, while Kawhi’s elite efficiency and steals rate anchor Los Angeles amid the tight Western Conference standings.

- The Cavs have stayed under the total 27 times in 51 games.

Final Thoughts
Both teams are missing key players due to injuries and trades, which makes it hard to back either one in the betting markets here. My best bet for this game is for the Cavs to cover the number, but I don't feel particularly confident in anything pertaining to the Cavs and Clippers tonight.
