The Charlotte Hornets and the Los Angeles Lakers will meet at Crypto.com Arena on Thursday night. The Lakers return home as favorites, riding the momentum from a 141-116 win over the Atlanta Hawks in their last outing, led by Luka Dončić’s elite scoring and playmaking. The Hornets are underdogs but have plenty of three-point shooting as they look to upset LA. Here, I've broken all the action down and you will find my Hornets vs Lakers prediction below.

Key Storylines
- The Lakers come into this game with a stronger overall record and home-court advantage, with 24 wins on the season, and coming off a convincing offensive performance. Luka Dončić (33.4 PPG) continues to lead the charge, supported by contributions from Deandre Ayton on the glass and Marcus Smart on defense. LeBron James remains a key contributor with around 22 points per game. Injuries have impacted LA’s rotation, as Austin Reaves is out with a calf strain and Jaxson Hayes is day-to-day, but the team has shown it still has depth.
- The Hornets enter at 14-26, trying to climb in the Eastern Conference standings. Charlotte averages around 116 points per contest and is deadly from beyond the arc, ranking near the top of the league in three-point volume. LaMelo Ball leads the team’s attack with just over 20 points and 7.7 assists per game, while Miles Bridges and Brandon Miller provide consistent scoring. However, injuries continue to nip at the Hornets’ rotation with Mason Plumlee out, and Collin Sexton and Moussa Diabaté listed as questionable.
- The Lakers enter this game in fifth place in the Western Conference standings. They are just one game ahead of the seventh-place Phoenix Suns in the West. That means the Lakers need to continue winning games if they want any chance of holding onto a top six place in the West, especially when facing a struggling team like the Hornets.

Final Thoughts
The Lakers’ combination of elite talent, solid offensive efficiency, and home-court advantage gives them the edge in this matchup. While the Hornets can score in bunches and hit threes, their inconsistent defense and injury issues will make it tough to keep pace through four quarters. I'm backing the Lakers to cover the spread here.
