Brooklyn Nets vs Atlanta Hawks Prediction: Atlanta Aims For Eighth Straight Victory
The Brooklyn Nets travel to Georgia on Thursday night to face the Atlanta Hawks in a game featuring teams heading in opposite directions late in the season. Atlanta enters the night in the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff race and has been playing its best basketball in recent weeks. Brooklyn, meanwhile, is in rebuilding mode and has struggled for consistency throughout the campaign. The betting market reflects that gap, with Atlanta entering as a heavy favorite at home in this Nets vs Hawks contest.
Atlanta enters this game playing its best basketball of the season. The Hawks have won 7 straight games and have covered the spread in each of those victories, showing strong offensive efficiency and improved defensive energy. Their offense is among the league’s most productive, averaging around 117 points per game while also leading the NBA in assists per game.
Brooklyn has endured a difficult season and sits near the bottom of the standings with a 17-48 record. The Nets have struggled with consistency on both ends of the floor and often rely heavily on one or two scorers to generate offense. Their defense has also been an issue, especially against teams with multiple scoring options.
Another factor in this matchup is the pace and ball movement from Atlanta. The Hawks share the ball extremely well and regularly produce open shots from three-point range. Against a Nets defense that ranks near the bottom in several major categories, that could lead to another high-scoring outing for the home team.
Atlanta Hawks
Brooklyn Nets
Stat | Brooklyn Nets | Atlanta Hawks |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 107 | 117.8 |
Points allowed per game | 115.9 | 117.2 |
Team Field Goal % | 45% | 47% |
Rebounds Per Game | 40.1 | 43.2 |
Assists Per Game | 25.6 | 30.5 |
The numbers strongly favor Atlanta entering this game. The Hawks are playing excellent basketball and feature one of the league’s most efficient offenses, while Brooklyn continues to struggle defensively and lacks consistent scoring outside of Michael Porter Jr., who is out for this game. Atlanta’s ball movement and depth should create major problems for the Nets, especially at home. With the Hawks also riding a lengthy winning streak and covering spreads throughout that run, laying the points is the most logical betting position as far as I'm concerned.
