Key Storylines
- Trae Young is out for the Hawks with a quad injury, leaving Atlanta’s offense without its primary facilitator and scorer. The lack of consistent appearances from Young and Kristaps Porzingis have made it hard for the Hawks to live up to the expectations that this group had before the start of the season.
- Atlanta is fresh off a 134-117 loss in Toronto in the first leg of this series, getting outscored in the final frame after staying close through three quarters. The Hawks are 11-9 on the road so far this season but they have clearly struggled with the Raptors both at home and on the road this year.
- Jalen Johnson has been a standout for the Hawks, producing near triple-double numbers this season and recently posting an official triple-double in a win over the Knicks. He has done an incredible job of carrying the load for the Hawks while Young has dealt with health problems this season.
- The Raptors have a balanced offense with contributions from Brandon Ingram, RJ Barrett, Scottie Barnes, and Immanuel Quickley. Toronto has won three of its last four games and they find themselves in fourth place in the Eastern Conference thus far. They enjoy home court in this rematch, where the Raptors are 11-8 this year.
- The only major injury for the Raptors to worry about in this game is Jakob Poeltl. His absence will make it harder for the Raptors to protect the rim and rebound the basketball, but his absence hasn’t hurt the Raptors too much this season.
