The NASCAR Cup Series heads to North Wilkesboro Speedway on Sunday, July 19, for the 2026 Window World 450, marking the first points-paying Cup race at the historic short track since 1996. After returning to the NASCAR schedule through the All-Star Race, North Wilkesboro now hosts a race with playoff implications, while the new short-track rules package should increase opportunities for passing without eliminating the importance of qualifying near the front.
Christopher Bell enters the weekend as one of the betting favorites, and there are several reasons why. Bell has been one of NASCAR’s strongest performers on short tracks over the past several seasons. Joe Gibbs Racing has also shown excellent pace throughout the 2026 season, making Bell a logical favorite despite the depth of competition.
Ryan Blaney deserves serious consideration after opening near +500 as well. Team Penske has produced strong speed on intermediate tracks and short tracks this season, while Blaney’s smooth driving style fits North Wilkesboro’s layout. Denny Hamlin also enters with legitimate winning potential thanks to his outstanding short-track résumé and ability to save tires during green-flag runs.
The biggest unknown entering race weekend is how teams adapt to North Wilkesboro as a points event rather than an exhibition. Strategy will become considerably more conservative because stage points and playoff positioning carry significant value. Crew chiefs may choose two-tire stops or even stay on track late in a stage depending on caution timing. Those decisions could dramatically change the finishing order.
Bell offers the best combination of current form, proven short-track ability, and equipment capable of maintaining speed over extended green-flag runs. Unless qualifying produces a major surprise, he could very well win on Sunday.
Parlay Odds: +1250
This combination balances upside with realistic outcomes. Bell offers attractive outright value without requiring a longshot winner. Blaney has demonstrated enough speed on short tracks to challenge for another top-five finish, while Larson’s consistency makes a top-10 result a reasonable expectation even if he never leads the race. Together, the three selections create an aggressive ticket while avoiding extremely unlikely outcomes.
Bell, Blaney, Larson, and Hamlin have separated themselves from the remainder of the field in early betting markets. Elliott offers value for bettors looking beyond the four favorites. Joey Logano’s experience could also make him an intriguing longshot if qualifying places him near the front.
North Wilkesboro rewards patience as much as outright speed. Drivers who abuse their tires during the opening run often struggle once the race settles into longer green-flag stretches. Tire wear has become one of the defining characteristics of the revived surface, forcing teams to balance early aggression with long-term performance.
The entry list includes 37 drivers, creating a full field with just one open entry. Every chartered organization will be represented, adding another competitive layer as playoff contenders continue fighting for postseason positioning.
Pit crews may ultimately determine the winner. Losing several positions during a caution could leave even the fastest car trapped in traffic. North Wilkesboro’s narrow racing groove makes clean air valuable, and crew chiefs will likely gamble on alternate pit sequences if cautions fall at the right time.
Watch for Joe Gibbs Racing, Team Penske, Hendrick Motorsports, and RFK Racing to control much of the race. All four organizations have demonstrated competitive speed throughout the season, and each brings multiple drivers capable of leading laps. Bell and Hamlin give Joe Gibbs Racing perhaps the strongest overall pairing entering the weekend, while Penske counters with Blaney and Logano.
Overall, Bell stands out as the most complete betting option because he combines elite speed, excellent tire conservation, and one of the strongest crews on pit road. Blaney and Hamlin remain close behind, while Larson has the talent to steal the victory if race strategy falls in his favor.
