Cadillac enters Formula 1 in 2026 as the newest team on the grid, marking a major expansion of American involvement in the sport. The project combines the Cadillac brand with a technical partnership built around the existing Andretti racing organization.
The team aims to establish a competitive long term presence in Formula 1 while building experience under the new technical regulations introduced in 2026.
Cadillac begins its first Formula 1 campaign with a driver lineup built around experience. Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez both bring extensive race knowledge and technical feedback that can help accelerate the development of a new team.
As a new entrant, Cadillac’s early development strategy focuses on building a reliable and predictable car platform. Establishing consistency across race weekends is often the first priority before pursuing more aggressive performance upgrades.
The team is expected to prioritize aerodynamic efficiency and stable tire behavior while gathering data across the opening races of the new regulation cycle.
Valtteri Bottas brings more than a decade of Formula 1 experience and a strong reputation for technical feedback. His ability to manage race pace and tire degradation can be valuable during the early development stages of the team.
Sergio Pérez is known for his race management and tire preservation, particularly during long stints. His experience in strategic races can help Cadillac maximize opportunities when safety cars or variable race strategies influence the outcome.
The 2026 regulation reset provides an opportunity for new teams to establish themselves within the competitive order. Cadillac’s early focus will likely center on reliability and consistent race finishes while engineers continue refining the car.
If the team can maintain steady development progress throughout the season, Cadillac could gradually become more competitive within the midfield.

Driver Experience | Two experienced race strategists |
The combination of experienced drivers and a new technical package means Cadillac’s performance may improve gradually as the season progresses.
Cadillac drivers may offer occasional value in driver head to head markets against lower midfield teams, particularly when Valtteri Bottas qualifies close to the middle of the grid. His consistency and race management often allow him to maintain position during longer stints.
Sergio Pérez has historically been strong in races that reward tire management and strategic flexibility. His ability to extend stints and capitalize on safety car periods can sometimes produce results that outperform the car’s starting position.
Because Cadillac is a new team, outright finish markets may remain difficult early in the season. However, experienced drivers such as Bottas and Pérez can occasionally outperform expectations in races influenced by strategy or changing track conditions.
