JJ Aldrich meets unbeaten prospect Regina Tarin in a women’s flyweight preliminary bout at Noche UFC on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. It is an unusual matchup in terms of career position. Aldrich is 33 and has spent nearly a decade competing inside the UFC, while the 21-year-old Tarin made her UFC debut earlier this year. Tarin’s aggressive striking and perfect 8-0 professional record have pushed her into a clear favorite’s position in the prediction markets, while Aldrich will try to pull off a significant upset.
Why Our Model Sees Value:
“Tarin’s 8-0 record and high striking volume deserve respect, but a 71% implied probability appears to put too much weight on her UFC debut and finishing record against lower-level opposition. Aldrich has far more UFC experience, has recently beaten Jamey-Lyn Horth and Andrea Lee, and has defensive numbers that give her a better chance of controlling a 15-minute fight than the current price suggests.”
Tarin More Vulnerable Than Her Pricing Indicates
Polymarket currently prices Tarin near 71¢ and Aldrich around 30¢. That makes Tarin the clear market favorite, but the gap looks wider than the matchup itself. Tarin landed 114 significant strikes in her UFC debut against Ernesta Kareckaitė, yet she also absorbed 105 significant strikes. Her rate of 7.60 significant strikes landed per minute jumps off the page, but so does the 7.00 she absorbs.
Aldrich a Decent Value Play
My projection gives Aldrich a 36% chance to win. That is still well below Tarin’s probability, so this is not a prediction that Aldrich should be favored. It is a price-based call. Aldrich at 30¢ offers a 6% model edge, largely because her veteran decision-making can reduce Tarin’s preferred pace.

Fighter | Age | Height | Reach | Stance | Record |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
JJ Aldrich | 33 | 5'5" | 67.5" | Southpaw | 15-7 |
Regina Tarin | 21 | 5'7" | 66" | Southpaw | 8-0 |
Aldrich enters after consecutive unanimous-decision wins over Jamey-Lyn Horth in April 2026 and Andrea Lee in March 2025. The Horth victory was particularly useful for evaluating this matchup because Aldrich dealt with a taller opponent who wanted to push her backward and work behind pressure. She had to adjust during the fight rather than simply dictate terms from the opening bell.
Aldrich has won 4 of her last 5 fights, with victories over Horth, Lee, Montana De La Rosa, and Liang Na during that stretch. Her lone defeat came against Veronica Hardy. Aldrich has built her career around winning on the scorecards, with 12 of her 15 professional victories coming by decision.
Tarin enters at 8-0 after winning her UFC debut against Ernesta Kareckaitė by unanimous decision on February 28, 2026. The judges scored that fight 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28. She landed 114 significant strikes compared with Kareckaitė’s 105 and also completed 1 takedown.
Before joining the UFC, Tarin finished 5 of her previous 6 opponents. Her overall professional record includes 4 knockout victories, 2 submissions and 2 decisions. She has 4 first-round finishes and entered the UFC with a reputation for being far more aggressive than the typical young prospect.
Aldrich is a southpaw striker who has developed into a patient round winner. She lands 3.92 significant strikes per minute with a significant-strike defense of 62%. Her takedown defense sits at 68%, and she averages roughly 0.70 takedowns per 15 minutes.
Those statistics describe her approach fairly well. Aldrich rarely overwhelms opponents with raw activity. She prefers measured exchanges, uses straight punches from southpaw, picks her moments to counter, and will mix in wrestling when the matchup calls for it.
Her greatest asset here may simply be familiarity with UFC pacing. Aldrich has gone the full 15 minutes repeatedly and has learned how to make adjustments between rounds. With Tarin likely to start quickly, remaining composed during the first several minutes could be critical.
Tarin brings a very different level of activity. She landed 7.60 significant strikes per minute in her UFC debut, connecting at a 47% rate. She was willing to exchange for long stretches with Kareckaitė and kept attacking even when her opponent fired back.
There is obvious offensive ability behind that output. Tarin has 4 knockouts in 8 professional victories, and she has also submitted 2 opponents with rear-naked chokes. Her background includes amateur MMA success and a Golden Gloves championship, which helps explain her comfort throwing combinations.
The concern is defense for the Mexican fighter. Tarin absorbs 7.00 significant strikes per minute, and her takedown defense after is only 50%. Those statistics come from a sample of just 1 UFC bout, so they should not be treated as fixed measures of her ability. Still, they show that Tarin is comfortable accepting damage to create offense.
The 2 fighters are both southpaws, which removes some of the usual open-stance dynamics Aldrich often sees. Tarin owns a 2-inch height advantage at 5'7", although Aldrich actually has the slightly longer reach at 67.5" compared with Tarin’s 66".
Tarin should have a sizable advantage in activity. If she can force Aldrich to spend long periods defending along the fence, the younger fighter could pile up enough volume to take rounds without landing one major shot.
Aldrich needs a more controlled fight. She should benefit from breaking Tarin’s combinations with straight counters, forcing clinches after exchanges and threatening takedowns often enough to keep Tarin from freely marching forward. Aldrich does not need extended top control for the wrestling to matter. Simply making Tarin reset can cut into the number of exchanges she creates.
The most likely individual result is still a Tarin victory, which is why the model gives her approximately a 64% chance to win. The value, however, sits on the other side. Aldrich has enough defensive skill, cage experience, and round-winning ability to succeed more frequently than a 30¢ price implies. At the current number, JJ Aldrich is the position I'm taking.
