The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs will meet in an NL Central matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Cubs have the opportunity to lock up the top spot in the National League Wild Card standings with a win here. Chicago is coming off a 12-1 beatdown of St. Louis on Friday and will look for another important win here. Before the first pitch from Wrigley Field, continue reading to get my Cardinals vs Cubs prediction.
Michael McGreevy will get the start for St. Louis in this game. McGreevy enters this contest with a record of 8-3 and a 4.35 ERA. He has just 55 strikeouts in 91 innings of work and his low strikeout rate could cost him in this contest.
Jameson Taillon is set to take the mound for the Cubs on Saturday. Taillon is 10-7 and has a 3.78 ERA for the year. Taillon is more susceptible to giving up home runs than McGreevy this season and that could become a problem for Chicago if Taillon struggles to locate his pitches.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Pete Crow-Armstrong | Over 0.5 Home Runs |
Seiya Suzuki | Over 1.5 Total Bases |
Michael Busch | Over 1.5 Total Bases |
Score Projection: Cardinals 4 – Cubs 7
Win Probability: Cardinals 35%, Cubs 65%
The Cubs are playing well and have everything to play for over the final couple of games of the regular season. Chicago is trying to earn home-field advantage in the Wild Card round and they should be able to clinch that with a victory on Saturday afternoon. I'll lay the runline with the Cubbies, as their explosive offense should get to McGreevy and allow them to win with some margin in front of their home crowd.
