• Milwaukee owns MLB's first 70-win season after another victory Tuesday.
• Pittsburgh enters the night trying to avoid falling further behind in the Wild Card standings.
• Paul Skenes looks to slow one of baseball's hottest teams.
• The Brewers continue to receive excellent production from a deep lineup despite recent injuries.
• Paul Skenes has gone 9-9 with a 3.90 ERA while continuing to post elite strikeout numbers.
• Kyle Harrison has emerged as one of Milwaukee's biggest surprises, carrying an 8-2 record with a 3.01 ERA.
• Both starters have the ability to work deep into games, making every scoring opportunity valuable.
• Jackson Chourio continues to lead Milwaukee's offense after another home run and 3-hit game Tuesday.
• Oneil Cruz remains out for Pittsburgh. Brandon Lowe is the team's biggest power threat with Cruz out.
• Paul Skenes gives Pittsburgh an advantage every time he starts thanks to his swing-and-miss arsenal.
• Milwaukee has been one of MLB's most profitable home teams this season, going 37-21 at home.
• The Brewers continue to excel against National League Central opponents. They are 20-11 against NL Central competition.
• Low-scoring games have been common whenever Skenes starts because of his ability to limit damage.
• Milwaukee has consistently received strong bullpen work late in games.
Paul Skenes is capable of dominating any lineup, but this assignment is especially difficult. Milwaukee has played with remarkable consistency for months, receives production throughout the batting order, and rarely gives opponents extra opportunities. Chourio continues to develop into one of the league's most dangerous hitters, while Contreras remains a reliable run producer. Even if Skenes delivers another quality outing, Pittsburgh still has to solve Kyle Harrison and a Brewers bullpen that has protected leads throughout the season.
Expect Skenes to keep the Pirates competitive through the middle innings, but Milwaukee's balanced offense should eventually break through. Another solid performance from Harrison, combined with the Brewers' late-inning bullpen advantage, makes the home club the stronger betting option. A 5-3 Brewers victory is the most likely outcome, making Milwaukee on the moneyline the preferred play.
