Philadelphia Phillies vs Washington Nationals Prediction & Same Game Parlay - 6/23/2026

Updated June 23, 2026
The Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals continue their NL East series on Tuesday night at Nationals Park. Washington opened the series with a 4-1 victory on Monday behind an outstanding pitching effort, trimming the gap between the clubs in the division and Wild Card race. Entering Tuesday, Philadelphia owns a 42-36 record while Washington sits at 41-38, making this one of the more important games on the Tuesday MLB schedule.
The pitching matchup favors the Phillies on paper. Left-hander Jesus Luzardo is expected to take the ball for Philadelphia, carrying a 6-4 record and a 4.20 ERA. Washington is expected to counter with right-hander Zack Littell, who enters at 6-6 with a 5.45 ERA. While Luzardo has had some inconsistency this season, he still has a significant edge over Littell. Philadelphia also enters with the stronger overall pitching staff, while Washington has relied heavily on its offense to stay in the playoff picture.
My projection leans toward Philadelphia primarily because of the starting pitching advantage. Luzardo has shown the ability to miss bats and limit hard contact when he is locating his fastball and breaking pitches. Littell has struggled to keep runs off the board throughout the season, and he faces a lineup capable of generating power throughout the order.
Washington's offense should still create scoring opportunities. The Nationals have been one of the more productive offenses in baseball based on advanced metrics, while Philadelphia has graded closer to league average offensively. However, the Phillies possess the stronger bullpen and the better overall run prevention numbers, which becomes important in a close divisional game. A higher-scoring contest is possible given the pitching matchup, but Philadelphia has the edge in the areas that typically decide games late.
Parlay Odds: +272
The foundation of the parlay is Philadelphia's advantage on the mound. Luzardo has been the more effective starter, and the Phillies have a bullpen edge if the game remains close entering the late innings.
The over is appealing because both starting pitchers have ERAs above 4.00 and Washington's offense has been producing consistently throughout June. The Nationals scored four runs in Monday's series opener and have multiple hitters capable of creating damage against left-handed pitching.
Schwarber remains Philadelphia's premier power threat. Even after being held quiet in the opener, he continues to generate extra-base hit opportunities at one of the highest rates on the roster. Facing a pitcher with a 5.45 ERA creates an attractive spot for a bounce-back performance.
Kyle Schwarber to Hit a Home Run +172
Schwarber is the best home run target in this matchup. His power remains elite, and he draws a favorable matchup against Littell. Philadelphia's designated hitter has the ability to change a game with one swing, and the odds offer solid value given the pitching matchup and ballpark conditions.
Category | Philadelphia Phillies | Washington Nationals |
|---|---|---|
Batting Average | .231 | .248 |
OPS | .693 | .744 |
wOBA | .305 | .326 |
wRC+ | 90 | 107 |
Team ERA | 4.06 | 4.60 |
xFIP | 3.54 | 4.54 |
Washington has held the advantage offensively for much of the season, posting stronger production in several advanced categories. The Phillies counter with the better pitching staff, lower ERA, and stronger run prevention metrics. That combination gives Philadelphia a slight edge despite being on the road. With Luzardo facing Littell, the Phillies are my preferred side, and a 6-4 Philadelphia victory is the most likely outcome.
