The New York Yankees head into Milwaukee to face the Brewers after taking a series from Texas, and they now face a Brewers club that has remained competitive despite several key injuries. Friday night brings an excellent pitching matchup between Max Fried and Jacob Misiorowski at American Family Field. Who will get the better of that matchup? Continue reading to find my Yankees vs Brewers prediction right here.
Friday’s game features one of the better pitching matchups on the board. Max Fried has been outstanding for New York, carrying a 4-1 record with a 2.39 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP through 52.2 innings. The left-hander has allowed only 1 home run all season and continues to work deep into games. Fried’s command has been excellent, and his ability to limit hard contact fits perfectly against a Milwaukee lineup that relies more on speed and pressure than power.
Misiorowski has also impressed for the Milwaukee Brewers. The hard-throwing right-hander owns a 2.84 ERA with 59 strikeouts in 38 innings. His fastball can overwhelm hitters, though his pitch count sometimes rises quickly due to walks. He is coming off a dominant outing against Washington, where he carried a no-hit effort into the sixth inning before exiting with cramps. Milwaukee will likely monitor his workload closely against a dangerous Yankees lineup.
This matchup has the feel of a playoff-caliber game because both clubs pitch well and defend at a high level. Milwaukee has enough athleticism and bullpen depth to stay close throughout the night, though the Yankees bring more offensive firepower into the series opener. Fried’s consistency also gives New York a dependable weapon against a Brewers lineup that has struggled to generate home-run production. Fried should ultimately be the difference-maker for New York, as his control is superior to that of Misiorowski and the Yankees should get another key victory on the road.
