The New York Yankees open a three-game set against the Kansas City Royals on Monday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium in a meeting between clubs heading in different directions. New York enters the game at 31-22 after a dramatic walk-off victory over Tampa Bay on Sunday, while Kansas City sits at 22-31 after winning back-to-back games against Seattle. The Yankees already swept the Royals earlier this season in the Bronx, outscoring Kansas City 24-6 across those three contests. Here, I break down this matchup in the American League and make my Yankees vs Royals prediction for Memorial Day Monday.

Yankees vs Royals Model Projection
- Score Projection: New York Yankees 5 - Kansas City Royals 3
- Win Probability: New York Yankees 63%, Kansas City Royals 37%
Michael Wacha gives Kansas City a legitimate chance to keep this game competitive early, and his current ERA shows he is capable of slowing strong lineups. The issue for the Royals is depth. New York brings far more power throughout the batting order, and the Yankees' bullpen owns a clear edge once the starters exit. Aaron Judge finally broke through Sunday with a game-winning blast, and that swing could spark another productive stretch from the middle of the lineup. I'll take the Yankees to win a second game in a row here at the expense of the Royals.
